I had a great dream last night. I don't remember them often, and this one was particularly brief, but it's certainly relevant for uboachan.
I don't remember most of it, but I do know that at one scene, I had discovered that a new version of Yume Nikki was released. (This is the first time anything Yume Nikki-related has appeared in my dreams.) It was pretty interesting because in this new version, KIKIYAMA had added more content related to Seccom Masada. Apparently, the player was able to learn about Masada's past, though as always there was no dialogue. Consider it a visual backstory of sorts. I don't really remember the story itself; it wasn't frightening, but it wasn't blissful, either. Like Masada, it was a bit mysterious and lonesome; it had an empty feeling to it. I wish I had more details, but, as humorous as this sounds, I can only remember one thing: there was a dinosaur (I think it was a stegosaurus). Make what you will out of that.
In any case, I think my dream brings up an interesting question: How would you react if the characters of Yume Nikki were given a backstory in the game's final version? Would you be more willing to find out the truth, and explore KIKIYAMA's thoughts, or would you be more comfortable in keeping the game completely ambiguous and up to your own interpretation?
(Knowing KIKIYAMA, though, even if there is an included backstory of sorts, it isn't going to be totally clear, so it would probably still fit in with the rest of the game.)
My opinion: I'd rather have no backstory. (I'd love for a new update, though, aha.)
