What creature or character in Yume Nikki scares you the most?

Like "oh god get it away from me" scared? For me, it's the alley demon.

Or Leg Vomit Bean Shit man.

While I can stand the chicken membrane thingy, the blue mouth thing is horrifying. I have never encountered it in the game, and don't want to.

If I remember correctly, go through the highway route to get to the area where Shitai is. Above the road Shitai's on is a path with a manhole. If you pass by a certain number of the "uterus monsters" on the highway (I think it's five) before going there, the manhole will be open with a red tentacle sticking out. To not spoil any... surprises, I'll leave it at that. :)

>> No.2347   [Delete]   [Edit]

Takofuusen. Seriously. I hate that thing.

AND I KEEP SEEING IT. IT'S SUPPOSED TO BE RARE, BUT IT POPS UP EVERY TIME I GO TO THAT AREA. GAH.

...Disappointingly, Uboa never bothered me that much. Maybe because I saw a few videos of it before trying to find it for myself.

>> No.2551   [Delete]   [Edit]

The wall tile in the FC dungeon basement that causes the "glitch" while empty speech bubbles pop up... oh the horror

It's even worse because the conditions that trigger the talking are rather mysterious.

Those stupid things that spit blood out at you when you interact with their 'knees' as someone mentioned earlier.

I finally plucked up the courage to play this game for the first time last week instead of watching videos, and I had all the lights off and a 23" monitor.

They were the first things I ran into, my brother was just in the middle of saying they go nuts if you stab them and I hit enter (I didn't have the knife yet) and it literally made me scream and jump.

I had him play after that.

Sorry for bumping an old thread, but I like this topic.

Unfortunately, I knew about pretty much everything before actually playing because I'd read so much on it, so not many things actually scared me. But holy shit, the thing >>719 described scared me out of my mind (the things that spit blood). I was NOT expecting that.

Also, Toriningen are simultaneously my favorite and most hated creatures in the game. They scare the FUCK out of me -- I don't think I can ever go back to the guillotine world again ;__;

MONOKO OKAY
It's mostly because until meeting her, I have been relying on the Stoplight effect to save me from Toriningens and things.
So when I see a creepy girl with a dead face, naturally, I equip Stoplight to ger to stay away from me
and then
AND THEN
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
Also, Aztec Rave Monkey box fried my brain.

>> No.3025   [Delete]   [Edit]

Uterus Road scared the shit out of me. I looked at the game's tilesets and I cried when I made the mistake of opening up that one.

FACE reminds me of sleep paralysis and is the single scariest event in the game, alongside Uterus Road. I always close my eyes when I wind up there or press the 9 key.

>> No.3048   [Delete]   [Edit]

Uboa scared me the most, no matter how many times I see him. I also find myself dreadding when ever I have to kill something. Just that scream freaks me out.

>> No.3055   [Delete]   [Edit]

Monoko isn't dangerous... you shouldn't be afraid of her, she's friendly!

>> No.3079   [Delete]   [Edit]

I knew about a lot of the events before encountering them, but guillotine world made my skin crawl, and the alley demon made me shit a brick house.

Uboa didn't bother me at all initially, I actually celebrated when I found him, but after a couple of days I started to notice that the idea of him made me jumpy. The pipes in my apartment make the same sound Uboa does when water is running through them.

On a related note, the pipes in this building also make a sound similar to Pyramid Head's sword dragging on a concrete surface, which once startled me so much I threw myself to the floor for reason's unknown. My friend later suggested that it was to avoid being speared by Pyramid Head's 20 inch cock.

Those...f-faces...sticking out...of the ground...in the eyeball world.

Eyeball world was the first door I entered upon getting the game. After wandering around for a bit I stumble upon THEM.

Your pipes...! I want to marry your pipes. That is amazing. <3

Uboa was jarring for me, but I'm not extremely scared or anything.
What really gets me is FACE. I'm slowly able to desensitize myself to it but... gah. It was late and dark when I first saw it and I was just like "FFFFF WHY WON'T IT GO AWAY D:"

But... most everything else in this game, really, doesn't get to me at all. Just three or so years earlier and I would have shit brix through the whole thing, but I've been heavily desensitized by the Silent Hill series.
Once you've ran a mile (and stopped to breathe many times) in James Sunderland's shoes, there's just... not a lot that seems scary anymore.

>> No.3112   [Delete]   [Edit]

I don't like the Aztec Rave Monkey nor am I a fan of the SPINNING DISEMBODIED HEADS IN THE SKY.

>> No.3155   [Delete]   [Edit]

I watched a lot of Yume Nikki before actually playing it, so I figured "oh, I know about Uboa and all that other shit, it won't scare me."
I WAS WRONG.
I WAS HORRIBLY, HORRIBLY WRONG.

First, I did the Aztec Rave Monkey in the box in the desert thing, and I knew exactly what would happen, but when it happened, my heart skipped a beat, I screamed like a little girl, and I fell out of my chair.
So, naturally, I was too scared to try to get Uboa. But I was fascinated with the thing, so I read about Uboa, watched videos about Uboa, all sorts of stuff. I even had an Uboa-themed light switch. And then....it got scary. I began imagining it when I closed my eyes, or for a split second when I turned off the lights in my room. I had to turn off the lights with my eyes closed, because I would always see Uboa in that split second between light and dark.
But the thing that scares me most about Yume Nikki is the GOD DAMN TORININGEN. They scare the shit out of me so bad, and I don't even know why. They are undoubtedly the most terrifying things in the entire world. It's not just the rabid ones, if I see any kind I will immediately GET THE FUCK OUT OF THERE, usually by slamming 9 like my life depends on it. Even though I know that they can't hurt me, they only send me somewhere, even though I know I can just wake up, they still scare me. I think it's because there are all these random unexpected things, like Uboa, in Yume Nikki. I feel like maybe, if one of them catches me, it will be some sort of never-been-discovered event things that will end in the Tori jumping out of the screen and ripping my face off.

woah, I wrote an essay there.

>>3155 you need to grow some balls and start writing less or people will tl,dr

Not to sound generic, but for me? It's not Uboa HERSELF but that sound. That GOD DAMN MOTHER FUCKING SOUND! It's been almost half a year, and I still can't hear it without giving a frightened little yelp and cowering, while simultaneously trying to shut off whatever's MAKING the noise. Brrrrrrrr.

Uterus Road and THE TRAIN WITH THE SHADOW GUY!!! Those send a chill down my spine.

The thing that unsettles me the most about this game is the music. Numbers World and Vomit Ghost forest really creep me out the most, with honorable mentions to the buzzing BGM used in the sewers/Uterus Road

I know the orange seahorse thing is weird but it creeps me out for some reason... and the entire white desert creeps me the fuck out.

Anything I ran across that involved a twisted, disfigured face scared the shit out of me, so basically Uboa and all those creature in/around eyeball world. Aside from those, nothing. I liked the Aztec rave monkey thing, I didn't mind Monoko or that weird guy in the desert (he just reminded me of a figure out of one of those cubist paintings, nothing horrible about him) and FACE, despite being a face, just looked like a static-y kind of Rorschach test.

>> No.3833   [Delete]   [Edit]

Nothing scared me, but that little godspeed toriningen did.

Not alot bothers me in Yume Nikki. On the other hand, Yume 2kki.... Well that's not very relevant so yeah

Uboa is more of a pleasant surprise
I dance to Monoko
and I---

WAIT FUCK There isnt a creature that scares me, rather a place... that... that 8bit dark dungeon place... fuck that place with the faces and ugh

That fast bird bitch, I hated her. I didn't even know about her speed until I went and stabbed her. I rode away on my bicycle, laughing and thinking I'd left her behind... then she leaps at me from out of nowhere. Holy god.

1) The bleeding faces in the eyeball world
and
2) the glitching room in the FC world.

Hell, nothing else scares me even a little bit BUT THOSE...

Toriningen. I know how it feels to be confined in small areas.

And those creatures sitting in fetal position. At first I thought they were deformed eggplants from Nasu then a certain color combination revealed that its more of a pregnant woman with a severed head.

>> No.3886   [Delete]   [Edit]

the carton that spills red milk with a smile

>> No.3887   [Delete]   [Edit]

I'm gonna have to go with the crazed Toriningen. The sane ones are my favorite LPCs in the game, but the ones that chase you scare the shit out of me. Especially when I went into the severed head room on accident, and for the first time. I nearly shat bricks.

>> No.3980   [Delete]   [Edit]

Toriningen. Crazed or not. Whenever I see one, my blood just turns to ice. Also those people in the mall, they look so creepy, an when you interact with them...

Rave monkey also scared me so much. Nobody had ever said a word about him, so I looked into that box and OHGOD. It also didn't help that the fact my volume was up almost all the way...

>> No.4050   [Delete]   [Edit]

Crazed Toriningen. First time I ever saw one, it was just after I'd gotten the knife and went to town on the Neon Worlders, and I saw one of those goofy-looking girls. Then it went crazy, sped at me, and sent me to Hell. Oh, if only I'd known... and getting to the Guillotine Room almost didn't happen because I was so afraid.

The Number World guys are pretty creepy. And FACE gave me quite a spook the first time I found him/her/it.

This area made me feel uneasy. Reminded me of a doctor's office or something, with the posters and the desk and all. The fact that a Toriningen is the one behind the desk irked me even more.
