I don't think the creature in Nasu looks much like a tapir. It looks more bird-like to me. Even though a baku seems to make more sense, is the guy in Nasu possibly a tengu?

Just downloaded the game, and the resolution is REALLY small, and the screen flickers every once in a while. Anything I can do about that?

I was looking at the files inside of Yume Nikki one time, and I saw a torii (Shinto shrine gate) that I don't remember seeing anywhere in the game?

I'm assuming the so called imp at the six pyramids is actually the creature that gives you the devil effect. When you enter the area with the devil effect active it'll be there and when you talk it, it will teleport you to the very room where you got the effect originally.

They appear on the 'return trip' back to where you first got on the train. The other monster (not sure if he was given a name, but he looks to be a black blob with beady red eyes and red 'ears') is on the train when you first get on.
