Takin Piano when school starts.
I know most songs are like 3 seconds but Ending, Purple Tiles, and Mother area themes are epic.
Any musicfags here? Or anyone seen any videos of this sort?

Hey does anyone have footage of the Famicon "Glitch" event? Supposedly occasionally going into a corner will trigger strange sounds and make Madotsuki wake up.

hey, does any one know what the RAREST yume nikki event is? the rarest event i can think of is Takofuusen. is there anything even more rare??

>> No.4320   [Delete]   [Edit]

I think Uboa is actually rarer in a matter of time you need to spend to get the event (enter the room, go up, face left, flip light switch, go down, exit the room, also utilizing speed glitches may actually slow the process down since you can easily go too far and miss desired spot); whereas all you need to do to see Takofuusen is just to walk randomly on the surface (and here speed glitches come in handy).

>> No.4321   [Delete]   [Edit]

but uboa is chanced abot 1/60 times or so, and takofuusen is like, 1/3600, and i heard the chance resets every step or something, which is why using the speed qlitch makes him show up D: and i have only seen him while using the speed glitch, and it can still take a while..

>> No.4322   [Delete]   [Edit]

You're forgetting that the trigger for Takofuusen is 'take a step in the white desert'. As in, every single time you take a step, there's a chance Takofuusen will appear. The higher chance of the event happening is so you don't get him popping up every five minutes.

For those of you who did not play through the game using a walkthrough (or who used one minimally), what order did you go about getting effects in?

If you can't remember the whole order, what about the first one you got?

For me, it was the frog (via the forest door, not the frog after the area where you get the bike).

Frog.

When I first played it, I found the bike first anyway. I thought it was the prettiest door. <:

I didn't use a walkthrough... I didn't think there would even be one for this game at the time. I pretty much went in blind and that's what I recommend others do if they like to explore in games.

My first effect was Medamaude.

>> No.4309   [Delete]   [Edit]

I started the game pretty much blind but I was told what door the bike was behind. I didn't get the bike first though because all I could find was the bathroom XD
My first effect was Neon because I liked exploring that room and I randomly found it
Then I got Medamaude,
yuki-onna
hat and scarf
idk thats about all I remember before I looked up walkthroughs

So, I don't really know where to put this, but feel free to move it to which board it's more suited too.

Let's have some movies that Yume Nikki fans would like. Here's some that I can think of:

The Machinist
Jacob's Ladder
Spider
Session 9
Donnie Darko
Silent Hill
The Lovely Bones

Any more?

Kirikou and the Sorceress was pretty badass I loved it.

Anyway, did anyone mention Son of the White Mare? It's surreal and actually very entertaining. Though there's tits and some balls in it, but holy shit symbolism to the extreme~

I'm going to state the obvious and say The Wall music videos and Mirror Mask.

Does anyone else feel that Yume Nikki is the best game of this exploration type genre?

It's various spinoffs, games with similar styles, and even LSD, one of the first games of its type, just don't seem to cut it.

It's probably just a personal opinion, but I feel an actual connection to what's going on in YN. The other games have their charms, but they just seem so random and thrown together.

tl;dr Yume Nikki is the best game of the genre.

Discuss.

>> No.4293   [Delete]   [Edit]

I personally prefer LSD because it has many different combinations. But YN is what introduced me to the genre.

>> No.4299   [Delete]   [Edit]

I like LSD because it's constantly changing, there's always something new, whereas Yume Nikki is always the same.

I like Yume Nikki because I feel attached to Madotsuki, whereas LSD doesn't really have a main character, it's just you.

It being Japanese characters does make sense, but I can't see them. Mostly because I have no idea what I'm looking for. I'll take your word for it.

>> No.4115   [Delete]   [Edit]

The hiragana for Yume Nikki (at least according to Wikipedia) is ゆめにっき. The first two are really the obvious; the last three, not so much.

EDIT: If the characters aren't showing up for you, there's a page on Wikipedia about installing fonts so they'll appear:

Is this ending true?

Also picture unrelated since I can't find any good Yume Nikki pictures

>> No.4189   [Delete]   [Edit]

Considering that the title of the video is "Yume Nikki Alternative Ending" and it somehow involves her transforming into a full-grown man... I think not.

Ah! Thank you! I was curious what this video was about!
