Well, it looks like かめりあ‚(Camellia) wants our feedback on the game, since she'll be able to talk directly to the people in charge of it.

So I thought it would be nice to have a thread about this; if you want to leave your feedback or report bugs, do it here.

Also your general thoughts about the game.

--

ok um

If you use the phone effect at the laughing person, she laughs a lot then the game crashes.

And when you go out Urotsuki's room to her porch, I wish there were different times of the day.. like night and evening. Since it's always the same.

My feedback would be this:

-Less humanoid characters in the dream world
-More Scary/Creepy stuff
-Revised Navigation

While I am very impressed with yume2kki, I feel that it falls short to the original more than it should, especially as of the last several updates. I feel these three suggestions could dramatically improve the quality of the experience.

Honestly, yume2kki feels too safe and comfortable. There is almost one humanoid character on every map, and significantly fewer creepy creatures than there should be. When compared to yume nikki, which had about 4 iconic (And somewhat difficult to reach) human characters aside from madotsuki, yume2kki has gotta have 30 something that they throw at you left and right, many of which are barely anything more than a palette swap of the boy effect. (Like the missingo kid under the stairs) I really don't feel like a stranger to the dream world, but just another common visitor alongside all the other humanoid characters. It's not really unnerving or interesting, they're just boring and uninteresting. (Oh look, another person with a slightly different color hair/shirt/whatever. Here's the part where somebody comes up with a witty name for said character ending with -san or -tan, hurr hurr so clever)

In addition to this, all the areas seem too close to home. Nothing really feels 'far away' like the white desert area in yumenikki (With the exception of the police effect's area). The means of transportation between all the different maps seems too convenient, as most of the other places can be reached outside of the nexus with little difficulty via convenient and abundantly placed warps. The paths to the different areas are too streamlined, and it is hard to get lost.

The exploration was a huge part of the fun and interest in the original, and I feel like the game is holding our hand and makes reaching new areas too easy and obvious.

Thank you for feedbacks.
I already translated and sent these response that was written for 2kki makers.
and also I noticed.

thank you for threading and reports!
I can't edit MAPs or effects,so let's wait for next version.

wow... I had't ever translated a such long message.
I could almost do it,but some pieces of message is not.
I think it's OK because maybe what you wanted to tell me can be told for makers...

I made this thread sticky, it seems important. I edited かめりあ in for you too. I wish you luck in 2kki's development! Don't over work yourselves.

I would love it if every effect had a purpose, even though that wasn't the case in Yume Nikki. But hey, maybe it's just me not finding anything to use the stretch, broken arm, mantle (is it called mantle?) and spring effects on.

I hate you ;_;

I was playing yesterday and I found this entrance to some place, and there was a sign in front of it that showed an normal Urotsuki and a X symbol, and a stretched Urotsuki and an O symbol. So I guess you can only enter there using the stretch effect.

About the game, I'm loving it, I always play every new version released. When I played it for the first time I felt like >>553 , but after playing it for some weeks I noticed there are a lot of areas in the game.

And IMO, it has more scary stuff than Yume Nikki did.. like the laughing person and the TV in the fake room.

edit : oh one more thing, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE try to convince someone to release an english version when version 1.00 comes out ;_;

It'd be great to play and understand what's written in the library and in the videogames in Uro's room..

Eyeball world/Sperm world/Ingrained tears of blood sperm world/Genital maze aren't scary enough for you? :o

Although, I would like to see a bit more scary crap, like adding more consequences for killing certain characters.

I did enjoy the red-rave effect that happens in ladybug maze, more random events like that would be awesome.

>> No.562   [Delete]   [Edit]

I noticed in the baddie bar (That's what I call it, in the area where you get the trombone effect) that the wall where the blob thing traps you, if you go underneath it, your head/body is obscured by it.
Thought I should point that out.

Yume 2kki is a tribute to Yume Nikki but it doesn't mean it should copy the original in everything. Personally I think Yume 2kki is creepy enough, just in different way than the original.

  • - - - - - - - - -

Now some feedback.

  • There is one problem that should be fixed. Every time when you interract with 青汁 in the hospital you automatically use chainsaw, even if you don't have this effect in the inventory.

Stuff that would be great to see.

  • More effect mixing. I really like "wolf+bike" and I hope to see more combinations.
  • More wallpapers to collect, I love them. By the way, is it still possible to contribute a wallpaper?

Thanks for your attention!

>> No.564   [Delete]   [Edit]

Thus far, I'm disagreeing with removing humanoid characters and making it easier to become lost, mainly because Yume 2kki, while being a "fan-sequel", still centers around the mind of an entirely different character. (Thus, it's bound to be different in many ways while still following the base formula for the game, which is the exploration style and effects.)

I also loved the recent addition of effect combination, and would love to see more, even if it's only for a few others. I'm also interested in knowing how far they plan to update the game version-wise, mainly to get a scope of when I should begin a project of my own; Yume Nikki 3.

>> No.565   [Delete]   [Edit]

I like Yume2kki as it is, and with each update I like it more and more. I'm not sure why, I just like it.
And even though it's highly unlikely, I'd like to see more updates after the game reaches its final version, which from the looks of everything seems that it's going to be 0.10.

>>553

I think that the game developers shouldn't try too hard to make things blatantly creepy (i.e a land of red gyrating eyeballs or whatever). Creeping the player out by making them think about what they're seeing is far better than OMG A FETUS.

>>551

Can you tell us some details about how Yume 2kki is developed? How many people work on it in total? Do different people contribute levels?

The music is very good overall, my most recent favorite theme was the spider web area/jungle area, the bowling area and the new mushroom area. Keep up the good work!

>> No.576   [Delete]   [Edit]

I like the music, but one of the problems I had with it, as well as in the last game, is that its too repetitive for the amount of time that you're in one area. I think that it could use a little bit of change. Not necessarily to the central theme, but more like, different ideas on top of the main idea of the song. Maybe more ambient background noises. Try and open it up to feel more in-tune with the dream world idea.

Other than that, I like what I see so far. I haven't updated since the first version .092, but I'm planning to tomorrow. Keep up the good work, its an interesting and fun experience as the first one was!

>> No.577   [Delete]   [Edit]

Something I've noticed is that there are places where ceiling tiles won't work properly. Instead of you walking behind them, your head or your bike might be covered by part of it, and then stick through the other end. I think I'll try and get a picture up of it later.

>> No.587   [Delete]   [Edit]

Honestly, I've never been able to get into the game, because I basically wouldn't be able to play it without walkthroughs or guides on how to get to places. Pathways are too obscure, or require effects that I don't have or never would've thought of using. The most I've been able to do in the game was wander around the start areas and never figure out what I was supposed to do. Maybe I'm just slow, but I figured it might be relevant. If others think 2kki is easy enough feel free to say so, but it's honestly just too hard for me. It's too bad because I really think it's an amazing and well-made game, definitely on the same level as YN itself.

>>587
I can understand what you're saying. Sometimes just wandering around in one area can take hours just to fully explore an entire map (well maybe not HOURS, but you know what I mean). It's really something that takes a whole lot of patience since finding everything can be time consuming.

I find watching other people's videos on YouTube or whatever acts as a visual walkthrough. You can even see where they went or how they came to a dead end and how to avoid that (or go to it lol) while you're playing. Many of the videos also help you find effects. So you can try that.

I just don't really want to play a game that I can't play without a guide. I probably will play it one day with a guide, but the difficulty puts me off of it and makes me procrastinate.

thank you for playing and suggestion.
I agree,because I could't collect any effect when I played yumenikki first.
It's difficult for us for the hint not to exist.
But I guess now,we're needed to teach hints or where effects exist on,and how to wandering in this nightmare or dream.
then if you're alone player,I think it's good to collect them while you feel the mood in dream.
In fact, there're some guide page or wiki in web,but they're Japanese...
(IDK the guide with other languages. are there they?)

>> No.599   [Delete]   [Edit]

1.I'd like more areas which were effect specific. Like wearing the spacesuit in space which you could only use one effect to get there. An example could be a fairy world where you could only access with the fairy effect (my heart isn't set on this idea i just thought it would be a good example).

2.I have to say I am a fan of creepiness. I would like more creepy bits. Not necesarily creepy for creepy's sake but maybe contributing to the plot (yet still being ambiguous to Interpretation).

>> No.609   [Delete]   [Edit]

>>592
I think a hint here and there would help it a lot. I'm not saying you need to change the entire game because of what I've said, but I've seen others get stuck a lot as well, so just keep it in mind. Thank you for responding and please give my kudos to the creators, 2kki is an amazing game and everyone really loves it, even overseas :3 As for guides in English, there are several, mostly on Uboachan or Youtube.

>> No.610   [Delete]   [Edit]

>>563
The bug with Aoshiru has bothered me a lot. Seems like the older areas are completely neglected, because that error's been there since forever...
---
I'd love to see more hints too. Even with guides, it's still very difficult to get to some places, specially because there's not too many guides around. And some of the guides give names to the areas and not how to get to them, so I get lost pretty easily...
I kinda agree with less humanoid characters. The game IS very creepy, but the fact that there's so many people to relate to makes it too... 'familiar' Not that it's a bad thing, though, since this is not Yume Nikki anyway. I don't think they should take away the ones that already exist, but new areas should have less humanoids.
I don't think a translation is absolutely necessary, but the game should be more non-japanese friendly, as in the files. It would crash less, at least for me, if most of the filenames didn't have japanese characters. But that's just my opinion, really.

Also ummm here's a stupid and pointless question, does the japanese community have places to discuss about Yume Nikki and the fangames, like we have Uboachan? >_>

>> No.611   [Delete]   [Edit]

>>592
What type of hint should be given though?
A really obvious one? Like if you need to use the Fairy Effect or go in X direction to get Y effect/area there would be like a tile/painting/NPC pointing towards it?

As long as we're not considering dangling hints in front of the player at every turn, I'm fine with it. I'm biased against the idea since I've played the game quite a bit and have memorized where most of the effects are, but even then, some of them are easy enough to find without prior experience. (Which is fine, because those are often necessary; the Motorcycle, for example.) On the other hand, there are effects that are too obscure for as useful as they are (the Chainsaw,) which would be an excellent example of where to add a hint. I'd suggest a trail of blood (or the vomit that the card suits are leaking) that leads to the correct door in the Hospital area.

This game is shaping up quite well, also. Good work!

To be honest, I like Yume 2kki more than the first Yume Nikki... hehe, more fun areas and effects.

Some of the effects are really hard to get though, so some hints could be nice indeed, altough not having any hints is pretty challenging and fun. ^^

Well what I think what 650 is that before downloading the game, is that people have the install the East Asian languages set their computer's unicode to Japanese/Applocale set to japanese etc...
I don't mind doing that becuase the game is worth it.
And even with all of this sometimes people get screwed.

About installing, it's difficult to do if you aren't terribly familiar with the programs you're supposed to use. I always get confused about what to do with RPG maker 3000, and can't really make any sense of the instructions involving the applocale. What usually happens for me is that I end up downloading and unzipping all the game's files, but I can't actually play the game.

>> No.758   [Delete]   [Edit]

this game should be on display in art galleries. it's seriously that good.

i wish there were more rare random events and secrets though, stuff that would take months after release to finally find

hopefully the final version will be packed full of that stuff

>> No.939   [Delete]   [Edit]

ok, I was going to hold off on saying anything till I played this for at least 10ish hrs. In the dark. (not all at once of course)

Pros:
-This game is a lot larger and I can always find new places on every play.
-I can choose a lot of different worlds right from the get-go.
-There's a HECK of a lot of variation. Even some good ol' disturbing places.
-The effects all do something, someplace. I love it when it's unexpected.
-The computer is a nice touch and the wallpapers and sound test are a nice treat.
-The games are nice too. Pointless, but very cute.
-A lot of the areas evoke a real sense of dreams.
-This game proves not everything has to be depressing and dire.
-Lots of weird things! (this is my fave haha)

The bad:
-That areas are way too damn big and there's lots of dead-ends. Like someone went crazy with the randomizer. Worlds in question: Monochrome feudal japan didn't need to be THAT vast. Especially the area before the huts. Put in some different trees and rocks at least! The water docks also. I spent a good 20 minutes just in that part alone, looking for a purpose. It's like "Ok, we get it. It's vast and empty. Let's move on!"

-Really bad choice of color schemes sometimes, even when it's meant to be garish (if that makes any sense) examp: The color tiles in the blue sky after the apartments. The world AFTER that with all the paintings (?) on the floor. Like a rainbow in a blender. It would be more tolerable if it was just one or two screens of it.

-A lot of things come off as just plain goofy. Like the.. happy squid with his face half bitten with the people walking up to him. And the apartments with the happy aliens in them. It's a little bit.. too happy. Then the street with the stop light's googly eyes. See what I'm talking about? It's hard to explain it. Some areas are truely moving and weird while others seem like our blonde heroine has been eating too much glue paste. It's ok to be silly, but reign it in a little. She seems more like a bored girl with too much imagination out of the trio I've played (YN and flow).

-The 'puzzles' and 'codes'. One too many of these mysterious things. I gave up half way in the sound puzzle. It's nice to have one or two, but they're so vague, long and annoying I've lost the will to try. Please put some hints or don't make them so.. long. If not in the same room, at least 'close by'.

-What's the point of the library again? I have to avoid it so it doesn't kill the mood. The books seem kinda.. silly.

I don't mean to bash it, it's a very nice game and wonderful experience and I don't think I'm even halfway through yet (12 effects so far) so I've got more to see and do. The only thing I could probably recommend is tighten up the mood. Have a real feeling. A lot of what I see is good, but never let it fall to campiness. Never settle for mediocre, even if it means scrapping some bad art. There's a ton of potential in this game and I think it'll really work.

I don't mean to correct you, but the docks do have a purpose. They lead to a submarine if you follow a certain path (there's an easier way than the way I used but if you search around the boards for a couple minutes you can find it).

The library gives you an effect if you talk to a certain book.

The "sound puzzle"...are you referring to the room that's kinda red with two figures - fat and skinny - and when you talk to them they beep? I'm sure if you ask someone on here they can tell you how to solve that. I can't remember myself, but I know it leads you to another place.

Yes, I found that out AFTER I searched here. Look at how big that maze is! (keep in mind how small the screen is and how little visual cues tell me if I'm getting close. Those water maidens are all cluttered near the very end.)
And how am I supposed to know it's the konami code?! I was going purely by audio cues and constant trial and error.

I guess I have to think like a NEET to play like a NEET. ._.;

well, what I was trying to get across was there seems to be one too many 'red hell maze' moments (and 'use pickle to open door' moments too I guess). It's not bad to have one or two (I just found another maze that looks quite visceral, but thankfully it wasn't that big), it's just.. a sometimes thing.

I guess having two of these out of 60ish maps does count as 'seldom'. I'm glad I got the bike or I don't know how the heck I'd have the patience to get through them.

(Kinda funny how there was a strategically placed park bench to take a break in the middle of nowhere on those docks. I just wish there was a floating head or something in the water to tell me I've reached a part I haven't explored before. Just one is all I need.)

hm, all this frustration has gotten me to play more and more. lol

Yeah. I can understand where you're coming from though. I guess I'm kind of a slow person, but I always end up looping an area like 4 times before actually finding what I'm looking for. However, looking through these forums has helped me a great deal whenever I get lost.

I think the only maze that annoys me right now is the one that looks like the inside of intestines - know which one I'm talking about? It's pink and red everywhere and sometimes finding something in there just ends up leading you to a dead end. Maybe in a future update, it'll have more of a purpose but right now I think it's just a dead-end area D:

>> No.966   [Delete]   [Edit]

>>963
Is it the visceral one I was talking about? Right after the "boney white things with mouths and stringy organs littered about the floor" world?

That one is VERY red hell mazeish, with twisting paths that look like pulsing red viens on pink skin. I had to look 'ahead' and see what paths led to dead-ends (whatever I saw on screen).

It's a bit easier when the maze is tightly clumped, unlike the docks where you can go on one huge path and see the dead-end a few screens later.

What peeves me off the most (and it's not the game's fault) is that these areas are really hard to get to. You can't just warp to them from the start. So if you reach a dead end, or get tired, or get caught by shadow lady (or her minions), you'd have to reset.

But yes, maps are nice.

>> No.968   [Delete]   [Edit]

Camellia-sama,

I'm not sure what you have planned for the game's ending, but I think anything along the lines of suicide would devastate us D: I know that that's how Nikki ended and it made me so sad that I couldn't play the game again until the following week or so. Call me girly or pathetic, but I think a lot of people here are looking forward to a different kind of ending D:
(then again, some people think Mado's way of ending it was justified, given her situation.)

Though, it's your game/storyline so I can't tell you how to end it. Just know if anything happens to Urotsuki I would be really sad >_<

(don't tell us how it really ends btw - of course lol.)

EDIT: I wouldn't mind a creepy or weird or "wtf?" ending, but please....please not another suicide D:

I used to get that all the time @_@ Well I think I still do, but I figured out how to fix it.

EDIT: Save this file and put it in your Panorama folder in your game folder, and rename it "空1". (without quotations)

That might do the trick.

I guess what I've been trying to say is.. Some scenes break up the feeling, the mood. It's not bad. Just some areas feel sillier than others.

But the more I think of it, our protagonist IS a little girl, so it's fitting. hm.. (at least, I think it's a young girl?)

When you go to that Japanese map and take the bus, it should've taken you to the area where you see the head fly off this giant statue during the day.

This triggers the event that happens when you arrive at the Marijuana Goddess world which is when the head flies around at night.

It is very...strange. When I first experienced I was like "wat".

In version 0.93a, using the Stretch effect causes this green box to appear. It's more of a graphical thing than a gameplay issue, but I just thought I'd point it out.

Erm, I dunno if this was intentional but...

You know the room in the hotel where everything is 3D and huge? I went through a crack in the wall and ended up in uh...Geometry World? The place full of PMS-chans and cheese that shrinks you?

Anyway, one caught me and of course took me to a dead end. I used the Eyeball Bomb but my game froze. I couldn't hit any buttons so I don't think it was normal...

IDK... doesn't sound like the best idea to me.
they can't just pull something scary out of their hats. it would take much more than a couple of weeks to make something that's truly scary. Besides, 2kki is better off not being scary.. YN already does that. I like 2kki because it's something NEW, not just another scary game. but that's just me.

I'm not saying it has to be anything blatantly scary or horrifying, and like I said it could even be something small. Although Yume 2kki isn't Yume Nikki, it still has the makings of a "scary game", imo. And updates come pretty fast.

I mean look at this map for crying out loud lol. The game itself isn't ALL scary but there's definitely a good amount of it...

Anyway, it was only a suggestion so meh.

My only real complaint with the game is that the music isn't quite up to par with Yume Nikki's in terms of ambience, but that's only for a few areas. Certain areas (like ones with beaches, or in alot of the dark maps) are very well composed. Another very minor criticsm, in my opinion, alot of the maps seem very random and out of place, like they were randomly generated.

tl;dr : I am very pleased with this game. There are many areas I've yet to explore, which I love. Reccomended, for sure.

>> No.1248   [Delete]   [Edit]

>>1200
yume nikki or 2kki was meant to be "scary" as much as a david lynch film was meant to be "scary"

it's just abstract art, so having too much of one theme would ruin the abstractions and turn it into a gimmick

a lot of people dont understand this for some reason

>> No.1252   [Delete]   [Edit]

>>1248
Honestly I think it's all up to speculation of what each individual player considers to be "scary" or "not scary" depending on what they come across while playing. Some of it can easily be seen as abstract art, while some of it just seems to be downright terrifying. However, that is just my opinion about certain aspects of the game. I never said the whole game was scary - just that it had the "makings" of a scary game, or at least had many of the characteristics of one.

Didn't mean to push so many buttons -_- I guess it was a pretty stupid idea for me to suggest and I shall remove it now.

i don't really want to turn this thread into a horrible 7th grade debate class, but the abstract art inspiration in both games is pretty much impossible to ignore, you're exploring worlds very similarly how you would explore paintings

but i guess the beauty of art games is how they can be interpreted as "just a game" or a plethora of metaphors and theories and whatnot

>> No.1376   [Delete]   [Edit]

I would like to mention that this game could greatly benefit from a quality control team. Just a few people to say what needs improvement before implementation would help. As previously stated, some things (including, but not limited to, the art, music, and area design) stick out when they shouldn't. I feel that the ambiance needs more work, if that's your goal. Don't feel obliged to take my advice, but I think some of what helped Yume Nikki is the usage of background sounds as opposed to music. The subway car sound is one that sticks out. The large amount of puzzles can make it a bit tedious or gimmicky feeling, so I'd use them with caution. Also, don't be afraid to change or outright remove stuff if you don't think it works. Finally, make sure the team gets a good enough break that they can look at this game again with a fresh mind; don't continue just to finish this, make sure they're all enthused with the creative process.

Edit: Thinking a little bit more about it, I've come to a few more conclusions. Again, take only what you think will help. Yume Nikki seemed much more psychedelic (I've seen art made by what the artist saw on psychedelics, and it looks quite similar; link related) and surrealistic than this game. If that is part of your goal, look up some techniques- surrealistic games (not a game like chess or Mario) create inspiration for the utterly bizarre. I also enjoyed the prominent dark elements and themes in Yume Nikki (e.g. the ending), which aren't near as powerful in this game. I understand, though, that it doesn't seem to be much wanted by the creators nor the players, which is fine. It should also be noted that I really haven't played Yume 2kki, and I'm basing this off of videos (mostly fdjkkjfd's), so my opinion might not be completely accurate. My other complaints seem to have been mentioned by other people.(DISCLAIMER: I am not advocating illegal drug use in my psychedelics comment, it is merely a comparison)

Again, do what the team thinks is right, and take only what you think will help. Good luck to the Yume 2kki team.

When I first heard of this game, I thought it'd try too hard, or fail to capture the fun and wierdness of its predecessor. As I watched early Youtube videos of it, I was sure it was bad.

Recently, I downloaded 93a, and I was amazed at how good it was. It was everything Yume Nikke was, but expanded.

I guess my feedback would be...Keep on keepin' on.

It would be interesting if at some point you find Mado's diary. Maybe this is what inspired Urot to record her own as a copycat.

Or maybe there was a mention of it in the news. Or maybe Urot is looking for something.

Hint at an ambiguous goal.

it'd be really great if they didnt have urotsuki kill herself the same way madotsuki does in the end. i mean i know the game's a tribute to kikiyama's yume nikki but goddamn it's just unoriginal and stupid.

The game is great. I enjoyed it even more than the original Yume Nikki... Maybe it's not as creepy, and it doesn't freak you out as much as the original, but yume 2kki features great escenarios, excelent music, and an endless world to explore.

i 100% agree with this guy,

also, as said, the game feels too familiar, and there isnt that feeling of dread and unsettling fear that was on yumenikki, also yumenikki was poetic and had such extremely beautiful and dreadful moments, there are some things like this in yume2kki BUT the game does not give the appropriate emphasis on them and they are not so intense

another thing: yumenikki is STRANGE, this contributed a lot to the atmosphere of the game.. i feel a big lack of it in yume2kki mostly because the game needs more voids =)

Some areas in Yume 2kki are great, as good or even better than Yume Nikki, with fitting music/ambience, while, no offense to anybody, others seem very poorly done/amateurish. Some places I try to avoid because I music there is annoying and the art is lacking. I understand this is a collaboration and there's going to be quality differences between areas, but some places just seem kind of pointless and uninteresting..
While Yume Nikki almost seemed to follow a theme of several traumas she'd experienced manifesting themselves as images in her dreams
Although, what those traumas are are left up to the players own imagination.
An example would be that chocolate place. Again, I don't want to offend anyone, but chocolate like that just seems kind of uninteresting and unoriginal. Yume Nikki had a mostly serious attitude, with silly and cute places few and far between. It made it feel lonely, sad and far more adult. This sequel feels a bit too cheery and silly at places and that just doesn't seem very true to the original.
It's like adding birthday parties, unicorns and rainbows to Silent Hill. You don't want to do that.
Oh, and bowling.

I think I agree with these three:

Frankly, I don't see where people get the idea that this or the original game are horror games. They're just surreal games based of dreams and dreamlogic. 2kki does this perfectly, with areas ranging from the more grounded in reality (library, dream room) to the abstract and bizarre, just like a real dream.

>> No.1935   [Delete]   [Edit]

>>1934
Some people have specific reasons behind what they consider "dream-like" or "surreal". I can understand that some of it may be more towards surrealism but SOME things are undoubtedly "scary" or may be seen as "horror" (just my opinion, of course).

Everyone has a different view on the game and what it does and doesn't represent. If you want to see it as "surreal games based off dreams and dreamlogic" then that is your opinion. Just like someone may see certain events in the game as frightening or horror or whatever.

In the creepy eye painting world, that leads to a place with a creepy mouthed thing, which also has a portal leading to it that is the same thing. It bugged me how you couldn't get to the creepy mouthed things inside of the place, because of the walls. Can you make them accessible one way or another?

Mapping error here:

Some of the wall tiles were mistakenly programmed to be traversable.

Please fix this.

Also, I would like to see more MIX effects, or even more in one, like Rainbow Child Wearing Glasses in a Spacesuit while Invisible. I know that you are already working on these, but I am thinking of how this could be done.

I recommend making a new effect if this is done, which is called "Normal", and takes off all effects because if there were many combinations, it would be hard to get rid of them and switch to a different single one. It would also not exit out of the menu after using it, just in case it was a tight situation

Here is a list of Mix effects that you haven't done, and there are so many:

Child wearing Glasses
Boy wearing Glasses
Wolf wearing Glasses
Rainbow While Wearing Glasses
Fairy Wearing Tiny Glasses
Riding A Bike With Glasses
Tall Person wearing Glasses
Little Red Riding Hood wearing Glasses
Lantern While Wearing Glasses
Spacesuit While Wearing Glasses
Wolf While Wearing Glasses
Eyeball Bomb With Monocle (the Monocle is the Glasses, but it would look like a Monocle instead of Glasses because the Eyeball Bomb only has one eye.)
Telephone Wearing Glasses (The glasses would be on top of the telephone)
Maiko wearing Glasses
Penguin wearing Glasses
Bug wearing Glasses
Spring wearing Glasses
Invisible wearing Glasses
Chainsaw While Wearing Glasses (would adjust glasses while chainsawing, and I would recommend something to happen if doing this in the room with a lamp that the dark knife hall in Japan Town leads to, because there are creatures that can only be seen while adjusting glasses)
Cripple wearing Glasses
Haniwa wearing Glasses
Cake wearing Glasses
Twintail wearing Glasses
Police wearing Glasses
Trumpet While Wearing Glasses

Just a question, is the soundtrack of the underwaterworld maaaybe inspired by the song "Worlds End Girlfriend - Ending Story?" (middle part) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T2D0h7ruTCQ

PLEASE OH PLEASE ADD IN A SEQUENCE LIKE THE TRAIN FROM YUME NIKKI

that part was the most memorable part of the game, It would be amazing to have a similar scene in 2kki.

Are you sure the train was the most memorable part of Yume Nikki?

>> No.2145   [Delete]   [Edit]

Personally, I didn't find Uboa to be the most memorable(not that other person by the way).
Probably because I was shown it rather than discovered it on my own. I do think a sequence similar to the train would be interesting

The train was my most memorable part too, but that's just because of this awesome fanart.

>> No.2218   [Delete]   [Edit]

Train was awesome. I especially liked how each passenger was different and how some of them reacted differently to the effects (like the disc that laughs at you when you use the cat effect)

Uboa may have been the games mascot, but he still wasn't the most memorable part for me either. The train was so amazing,I almost attempted fanart (something which I almost never do)

damn, that's a long list.

about the train sequence. is there not something similar in the game already? there are these pictures of a bus in the folders, and it looks a lot like it's supposed to be used for a "train sequence". (pic related)

anyways, was the third person perspective maze mentioned sometime?

the developers probably put a lot of effort into this, but i find it to be too frustrating to navigate (even though there's a map).

If Camellia still looks at this thread..
I really like this game, but I thought it would be a nice idea to add in an effect that produces water/rain like the Umbrella or Yuki-Onna effect in Yume Nikki. The only place I can think of that has rain and snow is the Gray Street (area in picture), and that's a random chance thing.

Other than that, I love Yume 2kki. It's my favorite fangame, and the music is cool; I'll even just have it playing in the background as I'm working on the computer. c:

>> No.2329   [Delete]   [Edit]

No idea if this thread is still checked.
I might be alone in saying that I wish there were less, not sure what to call them, mini games?
Like for the bowling alley game thing you have to go through to get the invisible effect, and how you have to move past the guy blocking the trail to the fairy effect, or else he won't move.
For effects that are somewhat important, this is just a bit annoying to deal with. It adds difficulty to a game based on simple exploration imo.

I also agree with the other posts about trying to stick to the ambience of the yn music. I know this game has a menagerie of "themes" in certain areas, but I'd like to have some that are consistent. It all seems to random to really have an impact on a player like yn did.

>> No.2425   [Delete]   [Edit]

I really like Yume 2kki, I might even go as far as to say I enjoy it more than the first. I'm a firm believer that while sequels should maintain some similarities with the first, previous, whatever, they should still be their own story.

I feel theres a lot more variety in Yume 2kki, and its a lot easier to navigate, which is quite helpful. Nikki, to me, was either "lets have a nice little happy music thing", "hmmm not sure if want", or "NOPE.FUCK.LEAVE.EXIT.GAME" whereas 2kki seems to be more personable.

More map variety, not the usual snow/hell/music/grass/garden/sea. I mean the world with all the different tiles, kinda like a mall, right before the clown dungeon thing. It was genius!

The music is absolutely fabulous, I've dozed off a few times to it.

Job well done!

>> No.2437   [Delete]   [Edit]

Yume 2kki has shaped up to be a nice game. I was rather skeptical about it at first.

My biggest issue with the game is how the older areas aren't interconnected to the other areas too well. The older areas don't literally have too many portals to the other areas, but also, they don't seem fit into the game thematically speaking. All of them are tiny, too.

Of the old areas the park (better known as the forest to English-speaking fans) and the garden world (the area with the EarthBound/Mother 2-esque graphics) are the nicest. The graphics and music are pleasant. They just don't seem to connect to other places well. The Marijuana Goddess area is okay, but could be better--this area is way too small. As for the graveyard, heart world, and geometry worlds: ugh, they aren't very good! Quite frankly, the graphics of these areas look amateurish and slapped together. The music is horrendous, too. (And that heartbeat in the heart world is annoying.) I feel bad about being so negative, but all of these areas should be redesigned.

>> No.2438   [Delete]   [Edit]

>>2437

Is the graveyard or the heart world the one with the card faces throwing up? I'm not too keen on the fan-names, or names in general.

To be honest I liked that world, I thought the dancing... things... felt kind of in the wrong place though. But the cards I liked.

Hey, I wanna report a possible bug/glitch.

I went to one of the newer areas (playing 0.094c btw) and when I used おとこのこ or おおかみ and then カンテラ, I tried using the カンテラ effect but it made me use the おおかみ or おとこのこ effect instead. If I just do カンテラ alone/before other effects, it'll do the correct カンテラ effect、 but using it after certain effects seems to make it nullify its own. I don't know if it does this with all the effects or just those specific too. I think it might.

Sorry if I kinda made it sound confusing.

The graveyard is the one with the card suits throwing up. I actually like the card suits, too, and I sort of like the room with the blue and green...creature. (The hospital part is okay, but it seems to lack a certain polish.) I'm not crazy about the rest of it.

Found another glitch. ..well, someone found this before me (>>2469) but I just thought I'd report it.

The latter in this area doesn't seem to work. And sometimes when I get down from it, it acts like I'm still climbing it even though I'm on the ground.

I feel that if/when you kill 'The Painter' in Yume 2kki the art gallery paintings should turn corrupted and change the worlds inside of them, even make them darker because their creator died, and makes the player feel remorse, and sadness for the death of 'The Painter'.
I feel this would add an element of tension, new exploration.

Bizarre graphical issue with the door here in the broken/twisted faces world. These tiles seem to change whenever I chainsaw them...

You have to wait until the purple person walks to a certain point before you can move (regardless of what effect you have equipped). It's weird glitch, and I hope it's something that can be fixed, too.

Don't know if anyone's mentioned this, but I think it would be awesome to have a little more interaction capabilities with the different humanoid characters. I can't figure out the guy in the hospital, where you go to the bed and the green stuff oozes out, then transports you to a room with a patient. You can't talk to him and no matter what effect you have on, he always gets chainsawed. It certainly an interesting part of the game, but I feel like there's something else there that I'm not getting. Unless it has something to do with an effect i haven't gotten yet. :P

Okay, here's what my friend said:
"Uuuh, it's unclear to me. The first part with the letters I don't get at all... it appears to refer to a file name."
Maybe they're putting something in there and haven't gotten to it yet, or messed up on the code or anything and it's some sort of error message. Maybe we'll see it in the next update.

>> No.2970   [Delete]   [Edit]

>>2968
Wait, here's a little more:
"The phrase goes "Pixel Children's Hospital" then the file name, then says "(let or make) use and receive." No idea."

So, they're probably using it as a placeholder to put something else in there. He's not fluent though, so it could mean something else entirely. Still, this is a good start to understanding it. :)

I saw the other post you misfired and sent them along to my friend. Here's what he had to say,
"Can't make sense of it with no context. "Here, not pinch cheek, not leave place... reasons you think it's that way?""
Which kind of makes sense to those of us who have played it since you can't leave that room without waking up or head exploding. Really interesting, I hope they do more with that character in the future.

>> No.3055   [Delete]   [Edit]

>>2988

All this sounds like messages to anyone who decides to keep working on this particular area, not just placeholder. They give a vague concept for others to work with. Sort of like tips. "You can't leave this area without pinching your cheek, so we need to find a way to explain why it's like this"

I'm not translating anything, just saying my suggestions based on your posts.
