This board needs a tutorial on installing Y2kki, so..

Installing Yume 2kki :

Step 1 - Installing files for East Asian Languages

  1. Go to Control panel
  2. Go to Regional and Language Options
  3. Click the "Install files for East Asian Languages" checkbox
  4. Press OK

At this point, Windows will begin the install. It'll probably ask for a CD, so have one nearby.

Step 2 - Installing piaipApplocale and the Context Menu registry thing

  1. Download pApploc - http://ntu.csie.org/~piaip/papploc.msi
  2. Download this attachment Context Menu.zip - http://www.hongfire.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=86298&d=1208143928
  3. Install pApploc to its default location
  4. Extract the Context menu.rar and double click Install.reg
  5. To uninstall, double click on Uninstall.reg

(pApplocale is a modified version of applocale that skips the annoying step-by-step thing everytime you want to start a program. The contextmenu.reg is a registry file that adds the option to Run with pApplocale to the right-click menu on Windows.)

Source for this information -> http://www.hongfire.com/forum/showthread.php?t=82164

Step 3 - Downloading and installing the Japanese RPG Maker 2000 RTP

  1. Download this - http://tkool.jp/rtp/2000rtp.exe
  2. When it finishes downloading, double-click it and it will extract somewhere. This is not the installation.
  3. After extracting, go the the folder you extracted it, and use pApplocale when running RPG2000RTP.exe (right-click -> Japanese locale)
  4. Install it normally. If you did everything right, you'll see no errors. Most common errors are the installer freezing or stop working at some .wav files. If this happens, your applocale isn't installed right.

Step 4 - Downloading the most recent version of Yume 2kki

  1. Open http://loda.jp/yume2kki_4/
  2. You'll see a shitload of versions. You'll want to download the files where it says "Ver0.092b 4-1", and so on.

example :

Theses 4 files are the latest version. Click on the filename to download them.

Patches and bugfixes are also there, they usually appear like this :

261 [132.zip] ゆめ2っき92bパッチ第2版 ※初期版の修正内容も含んでいます 0 Res 0.09MB 2010/08/19(Thu)17:54 ゆめ2っき_92bパッチ第2版.zip 編集
127 [131.zip] ゆめ2っき_92bパッチ.zip 0 Res 0.08MB 2010/08/19(Thu)15:53 ゆめ2っき_92bパッチ.zip 編集

By using Google Translator, you can see if it's a patch, too.

3. Anyway, after downloading all these files, using pApplocale, run the .exe (in this case, 129.exe). It'll extract all the files to a folder.

Step 5 - Playing the game

  1. Go to the folder where you extracted the game
  2. Check to see if there's a file called RPG_RT.exe. If there's not, you can use any RPG_RT.exe from any game. But you can also get it from here : http://www.4shared.com/file/_2bnpFMU/RPG_RT.html
  3. Right-click RPG_RT.exe and open it using the Japanese Locale.

Hey, I know nothing about how RPG makers works but can you use save files from previous versions of the game with newer versions without encountering any problems?

Is there an English patch for .94b? I haven't gotten a chance to play any of the older versions and want to try to play the most recent english patched version. What should I do?

>> No.2442   [Delete]   [Edit]

hunch hunch
what what?
new version

>> No.2475   [Delete]   [Edit]

Sorry for the newby question, but I haven' t been able to find any info on this. To patch the game, I just copy/paste the contents of the patch file to the Yume 2kki file? I have version 93g, so to patch it up to 94c, I should download all the patches up to 94c, and unzip or copy/paste the contents to my Yume 2kki file.

>> No.2477   [Delete]   [Edit]

>>2475
copy .094c to overwrite everything in an earlier version. it's missing a few files oddly so that's the only way to run it without worries

Thanks. But now I'm getting an error saying that RPG_RT.lmt cannot be opened.

check http://loda.jp/yume2kki_4/ for file 371.zip

Got it up and running. I had forgotten that I needed to run it with Applocal. Thanks for your help.

>> No.2556   [Delete]   [Edit]

Someone made an .exe version of .flow v0.1

do you think that could maybe be done for 2kki as well?

>> No.2571   [Delete]   [Edit]

It probably could be, but then it would update.

>> No.2667   [Delete]   [Edit]

OK, so I have the RPG_RT and RTP setup in different folders. Whenever I try to run RPG_RT it gives me a message in Japanese that the RTP is not set up, but I ran the setup already (in both locales). Thanks in advance for the help.

>> No.2668   [Delete]   [Edit]

I believe I've come across a weird situation.
In the latest versions, whenever I try to go to that place with the room in which you can get the twintails effect, I am greeted by a sea of NOT IMPLEMENTED (on XP, my main OS). However, on my curiosity mode Windows 7, I didn't get anything of the sorts there - at first, I thought it was because of a bad RTP installation, so I reinstalled it (making sure to uninstall it first) but continued getting that error. I also tried to run the game with a Japanese locale instead of Apploc (just like I did on W7), but the error rain still happened.
Now Im confus. I also tried to reinstall the RTP in Japanese locale, but it didn't change anything.

>> No.2697   [Delete]   [Edit]

2667 here. I got it to work, I just needed to restart. Derp.

I can't seem to install pApploc. Everything starts out fine, but then about a quarter/halfway through the installation an error message comes up saying it's missing a file or something and can't install. Did I not do something correctly, what's going on?

Just tried the official AppLocale and got the same message. It reads:
"There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A program required for this install to complete could not be run. Contact your support personnel or package vendor."
Then when I click okay, the installation bar goes back down to zero and the program days:
"The installer was interrupted before Microsoft AppLocale could be installed. You need to restart the installer and try again."

This happens no matter how many times or which version I use! WHAT DO?!

Pic shows the download link.
Don't forget to download all the parts. There's usually 4 or 5 each time. Once you've done that, unpack them in the same folder. If you're missing the .exe to open the file, just copy it from the previous version and paste it into the folder of the new version.

On a second note, make sure your language locale is set to Japanese. You'll have to restart your computer for it to take effect.

I don't think save files from previous versions work because of the changes, effects are in different places and I think the updates mess with the save files. I know I couldn't transfer my save file over, but it's still worth it to have the new version. I hadn't found everything anyway, so it didn't matter too much to me. Hope you can get it to work!

Honestly, the pApploc program never worked for me, I just used the windows language setting to Japanese and it worked after a restart. Have you tried running it without using the pApploc?

>> No.2958   [Delete]   [Edit]

Hey, I can't get to the loda.jp page. I always get 403 Forbidden errors anytime I go to it. What's the deal? I haven't updated in months because of this.

It's probably a good idea to use 2000; from what I've experienced, the 2000 doesn't work with Yume Nikki and the 2003 doesn't work with Yume 2kki.
That's just my experience, though, I don't know how others are fairing in that aspect.

Also, I did not realize that link was a 404. I got that, too, whoops. Here, try this one:

That was where I got mine from, found from this Yume Nikki fan page:
http://www.theneitherworld.com/yumenikki/2kki.htm

That place can be a big help. Hope that has helped you. if not, shoot us some more questions, we'll do out best to help you. :)

A lot of stuff has changed since then and it's missing a few of the nexus worlds, but you'll still be able to get a feel for the game. Let me know if that one works for you.

it could be the fact that I changed the folder name 2kki was in, but the same thing happens to .flow and I didn't change anything there

EDIT: so I reinstalled 2kki and the RTP (again) and it fixed it and it magically fixed .flow too so it's all good again

YYEEESSS I FINALLY GOT APPLOCALE TO INSTALL CORRECTLY ON MY SHITTY WINDOWS 7 COMPUTER

>> No.3043   [Delete]   [Edit]

Thanks to this Fan game I learned how to open Japanese programms, I just like such things.

another thing learned and so much more to go.

PS: I had no chance with applocale but with win 7 set to japanese it was quickly done and the game run and is fun.

>> No.3087   [Delete]   [Edit]

I hope this helps for people who are using windows 7

You don't really need to download applocale as long your non unicode is set to "Japanese (Japan)"

If you have this set just follow step 3,4 and 5 and you should be fine... It works for me

>> No.3107   [Delete]   [Edit]

Got everything working in no time with the context menu thing I found here: http://alcahest.perso.sfr.fr/perso/apploc/applocale.html

I've been trying to assist my girlfriend in the installation of RPG Maker 2000 RTP on her Windows 7 laptop for the past, like, five hours. She changed her system locale to Japanese and managed to get AppLocale to download and install, but when she goes to run the .exe for the RPG Maker 2000 RTP install, she gets this:

"AppLocale was unable to launch the specified application. Please make sure the application specified is valid."

Is there anything that can be done? This is really frustrating.

>> No.3150   [Delete]   [Edit]

(I'm the anon who posted just before you)
It didn't seem logical to me to install RPG Maker using Apploc, plus I didn't understand some of the steps, so I instaled it normally and everything worked. Have you tried that?

>> No.3152   [Delete]   [Edit]

>>3150
Could you list out each step you did? I feel that'd probably be the most helpful.

>> No.3167   [Delete]   [Edit]

I've got my system locale set to Japanese, RPG2000 RTP installed with no problems, and I've extracted and set up the 2kki files (ver 94e).

I can open the game, but then it freezes on the fadeout from the "project yume2kki" screen.

Any thoughts how to fix this?
