Hey guys, I was wondering if anybody had put the latest version of 2kki into a RAR file just like the original YN with the folder of all the programming stuff and then the app directly. RPGMaker 2000 won't install on Vista from what I've heard, and I've tried, and I was wondering if there wasn't an app for the game directly yet, could anybody that knows how and who has an extreme amount of generousity convert 2kki completley into a RAR file for me and anybody else who encounters the same problem?

...Or is this impossible to do?

Oh, and, if I'm wrong and RPGMaker 2000 CAN install on Vista, could anybody tell me what's wrong? Basically the installer stops at 44%, tells me a file is incorrect, and doesn't allow it to be installed.

You don't really need the RPGMaker 2000 program, just the RPGMaker 2000 RTP.

You have to install AppLocale. Try the tutorial.

Also, yeah, you only need the RTP.

This is a very well known error to anyone on this board. Applocale when extracting the installer and then applocale the installer. Repeating, RPG Maker games don't need the program itself to run, so don't blame your OS. Some need just the RTP. Some don't need anything to run at all (like Yume Nikki). I believe that when 2kki is completed, they will remove the need to have the RTP too.

Well, the thing is, I tried to install AppLocale, and it said that I don't have all the required programs or something of the like and AppLocale couldn't be installed, can you guys give me any insight on this, also?

See my post on top to change the system locale if applocale if giving you guff. BUT, it's annoying and you have to reset every time you do it.

You might need Administrator privileges to install applocale. Usually you can right click it and "Run as Administrator".

Well, I tried installing the exact things the tutorial says, pApploc and the context menu, and when I tried to install it it gave me the exact same message as last time:

"There is a problem with this Windows Installer Package. A program required for this to complete could not be run."

I skipped the first part about installing East Asian languages because I couldn't find the checkbox to install it (comp probably doesn't have it) And I don't have he CD to install it like the tutorial says....Is there anything I can do about that?

The error you gave us is the same in the link. Try this first.

>> No.1284   [Delete]   [Edit]

Well, the error went away, but I'm gonna continue installing it all tommorow, gotta go to bed....

Before I do, though, I just want to thank you so much for your generousity =) You've been very patient with me, there's been many people who tried to help me with something and flipped out because I didn't understand something. My friend told me the people on Uboachan were nice and stuff. So I seriously give you a thousand thanks and then some :D

I'll update you tommorow on how it goes. Again, thanks ^_^

If it stops at 44% just switch to full japanese system locale.

>> No.1292   [Delete]   [Edit]

Okay, so, now I installed pApploc, but I'm not sure I did it right. =/ Whenever I try running the RTP with pApploc (right clicking--->Japanese Locale) it gives me the error "The filename, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect." Then follows by a bunch of japanese letters.

I think this is caused because I didn't use install.reg correctly after extracting it...Was there a specific place to extract it to? Because whenever I click it, it just asks if I want to add it to the registry editor, and if I click yes, it tells me it's been added to the registry editor and does nothing else.

What am I doing wrong?

Try disabling UAC, go to the start menu -> type UAC -> open User Account Control -> Switch it to Never notify.

>> No.1296   [Delete]   [Edit]

I did that already, that's how I got AppLocale to install, and it's still off.

I can only figure two things..

the rtp archive is broken (it hasn't downloaded completely). Try getting it again.

Or change your system locale to Japanese just for the rtp. Here's what I posted in the first thread:

"Okay, if you're going nuts with applocale, try changing your system locale to japanese (this doesn't change everything to another language, just non-unicode things, aka the japanese rtp)

For Win 7:
Control Panel > Region and Language > Administrative tab > Change System Locale

Select "Japan", let your pc restart, and THEN install the rtp. Keep in mind the english rtp and Japanese rtp are TWO DIFFERENT THINGS. Install both if you're unsure.

When everything's installed, you can switch back and THEN use applocale to run Yume Nikki, y2kki, etc.

Hope this helps. Keep trying. Most of the problems are either the rtp or applocale not being run.

Someday when y2kki's all finished, I'm sure someone will repackage the game with the english RPG_RT.exe and rtp files like YN has."

I think that could be it..

>> No.1303   [Delete]   [Edit]

Okay, almost done, not gonna give up on it now, so just bear with me on this, okay?

I got as far as getting to downloading the newest version files for Yume2kki, so I got the RTP to run and everything. Now, in the Yume2kki folder where the tutorial says to run the RPG_RT with Apploc, instead of being a .exe it says it's a "configuration settings" file, and then there's two more after it that are .ldb and .lmt. So I assumed I should just download the .exe from the link provided in your- OMG IT WORKED :DDDDDDDDD Effing thank you :3 You can't even begin to imagine the trouble I've been going through to get this to work, I feel like my life is fufilled and completed now xD Thank you so damn much, if I could give you something in return I would, but just know how happy I is now ^-^ .....

Yeah. thanks xD

I am having a bit of a problem. I changed my locale to japan and I tried to reinstall the RTP. It said the syntax label was incorrect right off the bat. I'm using Windows 7 if anyone has advice please?

>> No.2034   [Delete]   [Edit]

See the thread about getting it up and running, but I'm running Windows 7 Home and here's what worked for me:

or Windows 7 Home users: to install the language pack, follow the instructions here, then proceed as normal: http://www.intowindows.com/how-to-install-language-pack-in-windows-7-home-premium/
