Alright guys, get this. You know how those stairs just seem to appear out of absolutely NOWHERE? How they're just conveniently there and at the perfect height for her to jump over the railing and off the balcony to her death?Maybe they've been there all along, Mado just never noticed them. And they appear when she's made the connection between wanting to kill herself and how the stairs can help. They make a difference in one of her biggest decisions in her life, therefore they stand out more in her view.Sorry if this sounds sort of awkward, I have it all explained in my head, but it's hard to put into words. :S(I've also got a theory on maybe why the stairs appear after dropping all the effects, but I'll save that for another thread. If you guys really want to hear it, just say the word.)Also, apologies for the "overused" pic. I have no other (mildly) relevant ones.

yeah, i used to think the stairs just 'appeared' because she never noticed them before.but then i thought that was dumb so i kinda have a theory that her parent(s) sneak into her room while she's asleep to leave food there and tidy the room up a bit (she prolly gets angry if they go in her room while she's awake or something idk.) her parents randomly decided to move the stairs there because they cluttered the room they were in before or something

>>2814>'appeared' because she never noticed them before.yep. now that there's a need for them ( in that sense - mado is really short ) she notices it.

OP what's your theory on the stairs being linked to the effects?
>>3014(ACK, sorry for taking so long. I forgot I made this thread.)Well, she has a "full party" of effects she takes everywhere with her. They might hold some sort of special connection to her and her memories. By dropping them, they're no longer with her, like her friends/family. (This is also sort of going hand-in-hand with her being a shut-in, having no friends, everyone died somehow, etc) That might just make her realize how alone/lonely she is, thus casting herself into a pit of depression. Then contemplating suicide, and... stairs that can be used to jump over the ledge.

The stairs suddenly appear? They were never there when she was awake? Does this mean she is really actually awake? So yeah my theory is she is still in the dream, or it could be the other way around? It could be she was always in the dream the whole time but now she finally woke up and wanted to end this.
Maybe there's someone that gives Madotsuki food while she is sleeping, and when Madotsuki puts all the effects in the nexus, she sleeptalks that she wants that person to put the stairs there.
>>3053Ah, yes. Nothing like a good meal when you're unconscious and your digestive tract isn't active. "Snore, snore, hey meido, could you open up my throat and pour some purple drank down into there? Oh also just leave those stairs over there."
Or she could be an unreliable narrator, who doesn't let the player see the stairs until she's willing to use them. Saves her the trouble of shaking her head at us.
Mado is still asleep and the stairs aren't realalso the ending was an interpretation of her brain melting and her becoming a vegetable

>>3066That made me lol, but I meant serving her food and putting it on the table or something.
