I think...

That object you get cat effect from is the purse that Madotsuki had lost long ago, but is actually under her bed.

There's always the chance that it's referring to "period flow". That explains the blood 0_o although that may be more creepy ._.

okay, so these five bastards have a chipset based on huge versions of themselves, and they appear in a random event in the dream version of your house when they all appear behind you after you see them on TV (of course, the last time I saw it, the weird mask girl from this videogame Urotsuki has is with them, and she's absent from this chipset). I haven't seen the map where this is used yet, but it does look like a prison.

So we have these five, and I will now give them each a spur-of-the-moment nickname... Shadow Lady, Pennywise, Crowdude, Fats, and Gonk.

I call them all "Chasers" since the behavior of the Shadow Ladies and Pennywise is similar to the Toriningen from Yume Nikki (the Shadow Ladies particularly so) and last I checked Fats and Gonk teleport you to an inescapable area, no idea yet whether they chase you.

So what the heck are they and what do they represent and what do they want with Urotsuki?

The first time I went in the boy door, and I didn't see the longer sequence. I just think on your second time, and going in the opposite doors triggers the event.

I think I entered the boy door the first time and the girl door the second and got the extended scene- so maybe the gender does nothing?

I wonder if it gets longer

You know that guy/thing that falls when your in certain outdoor areas and sometimes (I think) on Mars?

Kinda reminds me of Madotsuki.

Also, the dead/sleeping Mado in the closet that you only see when you have a severed head?

Kinda reminds me of her death.

ITT things that a lot of people fail to notice or make connections to something.

Also, Uboa is monochrome. Everybody knows this, of course, but I haven't seen any Uboa x Dave Spector or Taco fusin yet.

Pic took me an hour to make in MSPaint. Shit is scarier to me than it needs to be.

>> No.250   [Delete]   [Edit]

You can actually see Mado in the closet better by using the Midget effect.

Flow/Y2N theories?

In the strange basement thing you can access from the world you find the crowbar/leadpipe in, there are three doors:

The first one is open, but the room has nothing inside

The second one has some guy with a hat in it.

The last one is locked, and the door is the same as the main character's door.

Not sure what this means.

my idea is that madotsuki's mind is broken somehow, and the torinigen are trying to fix it because you arent supposed to dive inside your own mind like madotsuki does. and urotsuki can somehow travel to other's minds. therefor, the madotsuki door is closed off.

>> No.1552   [Delete]   [Edit]

I always imagined Usotsuki to be a little like Lisa Simpson, all conservative and stuff since it's pretty clear she dislikes pollution and likes flowers and gardens.

I have hallucigenia theories (shot)
From what I saw in nico videos, the main girl Aya doesnt go to sleep normally but rather she falls asleep while continiously reaidng that red book (her option to wake up actually says "close the book" rather than "wake up" like in Aine's case).

Also Aine's menu screen actually says "color blindness" which explains why her world and dream world are monochrome. At first I ddint know whether Aine was Aya's past self (cuz of the black&white = old movie thing xD) or Aya's sister. Since both on them can call on eachother through knocking on their walls, I'd say they're siblings now.

Now.... the most normal thing to think is that Aine is the one who dreams and writes her dream in her picturebook and Aya (as a big sister would) reads the picture book and ends up living the same dream only in colors (Im thinking the color theme on the effects is only representing that she wants to give color to Aine's world)

The main mystery to me though is what do the doll,"black" and "white" effect represent. In one part, the stalkers here are those skinny dolls (who btw stop whenever you use the white effect)
The white effect looks exactly like the doll that fell in the circus room and has some relationship with black since you cant get the effect without black. You find black in a huge building that looks like a hospital but is actually a monochrome version of the circus. Aine either spent some time in a hospital or the game actually takes place in the hospital (maybe thats why the outside of her room has so many stairs xD)

Okay, this has been something that's cooking ever since I got to the apartments. It's probably just an epileptic tree, but hear me out.

The presence of lots of people, more than in Madotsuki's dreams, indicated that Urotsuki was more of a social person to begin with, perhaps, but something went wrong.

Specifically, I think it may have something to do with her mother, in a nascent idea brought on by the presence of Mamako(the backwards pregnant lady in the apartment). I imagined that her parents were trying to conceive again desperately when she was fairly late into her childhood. Putting possible walk-ins and scarring by that aside, Urotsuki felt a little abandoned. And once her parents DID concieve, it was even worse. Her mother doted on the unborn child, leaving Urotsuki to feel even more abandoned.

My science might be a little sketchy on this part, because I get it from a half-remembered episode of House, but perhaps the baby didn't grow right. Perhaps it was more similar to a tumor than a child. She spent a lot of time in the hospital, hence the hospital doors in Mamako's room, and almost always had an IV drip going, hence the tube running through the wall. Urotsuki, who still cared for her mother even after being pushed aside, became worried sick and tried to convince her mother to abort the child/exctract the tumor. This resulted in a massive argument and Urotsuki being sent to her room indefinitely for the horrible suggestion. While she was up there, she heard news that her mother had died.

But you'd think she'd try to repress it by hiding it somewhere other than the second floor. Maybe she didn't feel remorse for her mother dying/suggesting that she kill the baby. I'm just spweing bullshit.

So hello /t/. I have been listening about them theories of Sabitsuki having a disease. Some people say cancer or whatever, but I'm going up more for the hints in game. Y'know. Her name. The white people. Rust-kun. Her name, the heart monitors, heart area blah blah blah

I think she has Rust disease, aka Haemochromatosis. Too much Iron in the blood.

Copypasta goes here:

"Haemochromatosis is a genetic mutation that makes people 'rust'. If left untreated, it causes heart disease, arthritis, loss of energy, cirrhosis of the liver and liver cancer. "

Symptoms

Chronic fatigue
Abdominal pain
Arthritis; particularly common in the knuckle and first joint of the first two fingers

Interesting, though I wouldn't say she has a few of those and neurological disorders could be attributed to other things as well. If she is able to focus well enough to consistently enter a state of Flow.

OK you guise, I have some long-winded brainfodder! First of all, I've been obsessed with this game ever since I first came across it on wikipedia. It's probably one of the greatest games EVER, I love the creeps, the music, the general feel, and most of all the MYSTERY!

I think all the black/white characters are dead. Madotsuki's somehow connected with all these deaths, whether they are people she knew well prior to their death or happened or they were just passing faces, they made a great impression on her mind by dying.

Thus my theory is that Uboa/Poniko was someone really close to her, whose death was a big shock. She's in denial, so when Poniko first appears it's how she remembers her, then when Uboa comes out it's probably a flash-back to the shock she felt when she saw/learned of Poniko's death. Another theory that supports this idea of mine is that Poniko's face was somehow disfigured (into that creepylicious grin), and when Uboa's stabbed and the face changes, it might be a reference to how Poniko's face had been restored (to almost non-existence) for her funeral.

Monoko and Monoe (who I'm certain are two different people) either were her school mates, who died during Madotsuki's stay in school or people she's seen pictures of and heard of. Monoko's graphic appearance may be a figment of Madotsuki's imagination from hearing stories of her death (she probably never really saw her post-mortem), so that's why she has extra appendages in place of blood and broken bones. If she had witnessed her die the impression would have been much more graphic. Monoe died without any visible physical symptoms (therefore the peaceful creepy grin, like a school portrait at her funeral).. Masaki-san, probably dead too, but I haven't really figured much from his appearance.. The preggo lady/decapitated preggo lady is probably a result of witnessing/hearing stories of some accident who another person she knew suffered. This particular person probably had a post-mortem c-section, thus the gaping stomach-mouth thing..

Hey, guys. I think I may have a brand new theory.

What if Yume Nikki wasn't inteded to be a look into Madotsuki's thoughts, psyche, and dreams, but ours. Maybe it was Kikiyama's way of looking at certain people's minds, sensibilities, etc. It was all a giant survey, with the results shown through our emotions, and reactions.

Think about it. Each one of us, at one point or another, has had Yume Nikki, or rather, Madotsuki and her situations, in their thoughts or dreams. What if the intended result of the game was not a completed game, but to make us think more deeply about things, and look deeper into ourselves?

So, /t/, what do you think?

>> No.1726   [Delete]   [Edit]

This is similar to what I theorized. The game isn't meant to be taken literally, but instead all of the characters and events are representative. The whole "liek omg she wuz rapped this one tiem" theories make me a bit upset. If you read Plato's Allegory of the Cave, you can see a lot of similarities between it and Yume Nikki. The "shadows" the prisoners see are similar to Madotsuki's dreams. They are reflections of life, but they are not the "truth" that she needed. Because she was unable to find the truth, and found herself unable to face reality, she killed herself. She was a prisoner of her own mind, as are we. It's irrelevant how she became a recluse. I'm glad someone else caught on to the deep brilliance behind this game.

>> No.1728   [Delete]   [Edit]

>>1726
Well said. I must agree with you, the whole "Oh gawd, she was raped!!!" thing got tired long ago. Though, by seeing the brilliance within the game, and taking truly into consideration what Madotsuki's eventual fate was, it is sad to realize that things like this happen very often to real people. Maybe Madotsuki was Kikyama's way of saying "Don't do this, lest you end up like this", and should be considered a warning. Madosuki, though she is a character that is easy to relate to, should not be emulated.

Last edited 10/09/18(Sat)16:38.

>> No.1751   [Delete]   [Edit]

No, the game is supposed to be a look into Mado's thoughts. I think the player does, on accident, find some things too.

>>1728
honestly, I just think the male fans came up with that because they think it's hot.

Me and my boyfriend were talking the other day, and we both thought this:

what if the game isn't actually supposed to be deep? Kikiyama just made it up in his head as he went along, and is laughing at everyone who thinks it's such a deep game :D

pic not related at all, because I'm at school.

That's like saying that an artist just gets up one day and shits on a canvas and it instantly gets tossed into a museum. Or that a writer just sits down one day and writes an entire book without a vision. Think about how great Yume Nikki is, and then re-read your post. Sense is not made here.
