Discuss. Perhaps what chances the train would take you somewhere or where it would take you, concept illustrations, a tileset, programming etc
Alright. This needs discussion, so I might as well revive it. Unless of course this idea's already been dismissed.I was thinking maybe the train takes you to various places based on either a variable, how much moneys you have, or just by chance. If you didn't go to the place you wanted, just wake up and try again. Even if it takes forever to get there. You have Manly Shoes, so it'll be easy.Ideas of places could be: A forest/village/wth, some desert in the middle of nowhere (maybe for Red Desert w/ Cute White Thing? :D), or maybe the bottom of a trench (the tracks ended like in the pic above and you fell into it).Since I suck at illustrations I shall have to rely on anyone elses' interpretations.

Maybe a small chance (like, Takofuusen small) of the train derailing or something, triggering another event or waking you up?
I remember I posted an idea here involving the train taking you to a junkyard... Upon exiting, the train becomes rusted out scrap, so no going back to the station that way. The music's all hopeless-sounding (think The Barracks from the original YN), and there's a large mechanical... THING that you can go inside which contains the 8-Bit effect... and a part with a mechanical heart that has a very small-yet-resetting chance of 'beating'(Sorta like the Mars event but if it doesn't happen right when you arrive you just wait a minute or two and there's another chance for it to happen).
>>789I think this idea is great, and it gave me an idea of what can happen (by a really, REALLY small chance):The train derails somewhere, and the only interactable object there is a small hole you can go down into. Do that, and you fall down to a small grey corridor-like tunnel (sidescrolling), very long and narrow. There is no ladder, so you can't go back up. And it's really narrow, so no going up and down, just walking along the tunnel for what seems like an eternity. And then there is a white light at the end, and you end up coming out of an air vent in a room that looks exactly like the awake world. Except if you try to go to sleep, something jumps out of your bed (either it just pops up, or maybe it attacks you?) and then you wake up for real, maybe fall out of your bed.The idea just popped into my head, and then I developed it a little bit just as I wrote it down. Opinions? Last edited 09/10/12(Mon)10:47.

>>802I think it's a great idea and would definitely be scary for the person that doesn't expect it. Maybe make it a more likely to happen but besides that I can't think of anything to change. So I'm guessing the train can take you to multiple places...? Like the train stops at a forest area, you board again and the second time you exit you're at the junkyard area etc. etc. Maybe there's three or four small locations and the train travels between them in a loop or at random? Also, what's going to be inside the train? I'm reminded of the train ride that happens in Yume Nikki. I think it would be interesting if something out of place was inside instead of a regular looking subway. I might draw some ideas...Also, is there going to be a train terminal kind of area? Last edited 09/10/07(Wed)21:31.

>>804When they were originally hashing out the ideas they mentioned a train depot. I'm thinking that it's a very big train-station with elevated walkways and the like, sorta set up like the forest tunnel in that you can go on and on and on in one direction, but will go back to the exit very quickly if you turn around. There'd be a whole bunch of absolutely-identical trains, too.
>>804Why make it more likely to happen? I think it would be better if it's a really small chance that it happens, I mean, it wouldn't be as much fun if it happened so often that people who ride the train to get somewhere end up derailing and thinking "oh no, not again". I'm thinking of it more as kind of a "once in a lifetime" experience.(Okay, maybe not once in a lifetime, but you get the idea. Like 1/3600 chance or something like that.)
