Discuss Child's Art/Crayon world and related areas and npcs. Concept illustrations are encouraged.
Maybe for concept art we could go through our old sketchbooks / drawings from when we were kids? And scan and post some good ones for character / environment ideas?
>>108brb, finding my "1000 pet rats" picture from kindergarten...it's actually probably not all that useful, but there can be little sketchy-looking mice running around? idk. This is a great idea though.

>>108I went through my really old drawings, apparently when I was little I was a huge girly-girl and pretty much all I drew were butterflies, flowers, family/friends standing in front of a house etc., nothing interesting. Though I do really like this idea c:
>>108Fffffff... I looked through mine and I found a few unintentionally scary things. I'll try to scan them in later.I was kind of a tomboy in elementary school and used to draw monsters and fake pokemon with my friends. Hopefully I can find more of those in the attic somewhere...>>111Though looking at OP's picture it looks like this world goes from a safe, happy place to OH SHI- Maybe the girly nice things could hang out on the left side? I can imagine butterflies would seem at home there. Plus, when the player walks over to the right it'll be more jarring?Maybe from left to right the art progresses by age? Like it starts out blank and as you move along you progress though the art by years? Also, art is really important with psychiatrists who are treating children. Like, a child who draws a happy family vs not so happy one, draws him/herself without eyes, etc. A lot of children's art has family members in it so I think it would be cool to see some of this character's "family" walking around.Oh god, sorry for the tl;dr D: Last edited 09/08/14(Fri)10:17.

Hm, I found a bunch of art from preschool to 1st grade in the attic. Should I just scan in the scariest stuff I can find?
Here's my pet rats thing, I had this scanned before because I found it in a notebook from kindergarten and I thought it was cute, but slightly weird.
>>130That's really funny XDReminds me of something I scanned in earlier today...

I'll post some other drawings I scanned in, hopefully they'd be useful for something...Most of these are preschool / kindergarden / 1st grade I think... Last edited 09/08/16(Sun)20:37.

A factory with two dogs and a cat running in front of it? :/
I don't even-
Maybe some messily traced hands? Those make me think "child art"... hm...And sorry for the art spam XD
>>131that's... actually cool.It looks like this was drawn at a fairly young age... but had a full grasp of depth.

The other night I dreamed in claymation, it was creepy as hell, Maybe we could have a creepy claymation cut scene or something like that.
Postan psycho scribblin's due to relevance
We need to put in text somewhere written in the Mr. Saturn font. It is both childish-looking and awesomely referential.
Had fun with some photo-shooping.>>164Like the game Nightmare Ned? I've seen that before and it does look pretty scary and could be appropriate for the area. I don't think RPG Maker could handle that though, but I'd be up for it otherwise.

Also, here's a bunch of childrens' drawings of their mothers.I'm thinking maybe you would get Toriningen-transported / trapped in a black and white room filled with these guys? Or maybe they could be colored and aimlessly wandering around in various areas... I don't know... but I think some of these could make good NPCs. Last edited 09/08/29(Sat)14:58.

>>732I made a little sprite that was kind of based off of those in MSpaint. Thing is, when I try to access it ingame it does this weird thing where only one background color is transparent. So when she turns right she's surrounded by a blue block, you get the idea. If anyone wants to redo this, please do.

>>747More kids art or if you should make more sprites? So far the sprites look pretty good and look just like the original drawings.:D Not so sure about the colors but hey, it's a kids art theme. Neon could be fitting.Hm... I'm tempted to go make some sprites too. :)

>>743What you have to do after you're done making the NPC sprite, is to make the background of that set as one color, so the color will be transparent. :)

What you have to do after you're done making the NPC sprite, is to make the background of that set as one color, so the color will be transparent. :)
i quickly threw all of these into a charset and fixed the background color.>>743 works perfectly fine except some of the sprites don't align exactly, but that's an easy fix and not a big deal.however, the sprites in >>747 are a bit too big. i thought it could easily be worked around, but it didn't turn out like i expected in-game hurr durr. can somebody that doesn't suck at rpg maker like i do try and make sure that they can be used? i don't know if i did something wrong with the actual charset or what :I
>>750Well, I tried. They probably look more like dancing retardedly, but oh well. XD Last edited 09/09/06(Sun)13:46.

The new sprites are nice, but wouldn't the bigger, original sprites still work if you put all the pieces together and made them move in unison by giving them a set path or something?
>>754thx bby ;-* and also don't worry about it, i know what you mean haha>>755yeah, that's like what i was thinking, but what i meant by>it didn't turn out like i expected in-gameis when i put the pieces together in rpg maker, in-game the sprites turned out how you can see in the pic. i have an idea of what's causing it, but honestly, it would just be a lot easier to use the resprited versions. though i do really like the originals, they look exactly like the drawings in >>732
