Reading over the posts here, I feel like the project is too controlled. People are trying to give every location purpose or make things coherent. It seems like that's too controlled for a good Yume Nikki tribute. It's not Silent Hill, people. Let go of coherency and let there be aspects of it with no purpose at all. Choose stuff that's there just to be there. Don't make it seem normal. Give it loads of points that would make players go "huh?!"Just my opinion though...

Not "controlling" the game will not exactly speed up our work, dude. We are not at a point where we can add in random shit that's not in our plans just to copy YN.
>>1137> that's not in our plans just to copy YN.Wat.Also, at this point we're supposedly fleshing out the hospital world but there's no reason why you couldn't suggest new random ideas in the new area / NPC thread. Plus most of the "coherency" was supposed to be something to inspire more ideas or just a loose theme. Don't take it too seriously.

Wat.

We are not at the point where we can add in random shit that is not in the basic plans (for areas and whatnot), purely because someone wants the project to have the exact same atmosphere as Yume Nikki. The project is sort of a mess right now. "Letting go of coherency" will not make it less of a mess.I guess I didn't make that clear enough. Sorry.

But letting go of coherency will make it go at more than a snail's pace for once. There's no reason why you can't work on various areas and tie them together later on like in the development for Yume 2kki.Also, I was under the impression that the Uboachan project was supposed to have the same design and general atmosphere as Yume Nikki. If not, what is it doing on a Yume Nikki fansite?

>>1182It'll go at a snail's pace whether we're "coherent" or not. Planning things out doesn't make something slow, it just makes it organized and efficient. I'm sure we could use 2kki's method of creation, but the problem is, who's going to work on all of those areas simultaneously and link them together? /p/ real problem isn't coherency, it's simply the sheer lack of people doing actual work. If this little work (if any at all at this point) is going to be done, it should be in an organized manner or NOTHING would get done.Besides, being organized =/= OP's original statement of "oh you guys you should just let go and have fun and put in weird shit for the sake of weird shit," which is another argument entirely.

I don't want to interfere or anything, but I feel that the following link is appropriate:http://boingboing.net/features/morerock.htmlAt least up to the stuff about Moses.Randomness for the sake of it might not be the best approach, but I figure you shouldn't discourage fresh ideas, or over-think existing ones.

>>1184That's still exactly what we're trying to do. We're trying to get actual work done, we're just trying to put it in a productive direction, not overthinking anything. The real problem is, no one's doing any of the work we need to get done.
>>1185I might get more work done if I could find a working uploader/patcher.
