Does anybody get a really creepy feeling from error messages?
Oh, definitely. But maybe it's because I'm paranoid of everything...
People are afraid of the unknownAnd they fuck-sure don't know what the hell is going on in that mess of numbers

From now on I'll make all of my error messages ambiguously creepy. Thanks, good idea.
I always found them not particularly creepy, but definitely ominous-- definitely enough to be disturbing. Also, when I was little, I thought getting an alert that said that I had 'performed an illegal operation' meant that I had done something bad and that the police were going to get me. :(
I was always freaked out by the little chime and automated voice that played when you called someone and the call couldn't be made. I get creeped out by error messages that are accompanied by any monotonous noise, but that's my ligyrophobia.
Errors are freaky shit. I think the scariest part about Yume Nikki for me was the glitch room.

Yep. Plenty of fear of error messages here. I used to have terrible dreams involving error messages as a kid. Whenever an error message popped up on anything in my dreams, seriously bad shit went down. But you know what's worse than error messages? Glitches. Error messages have nothing on glitches.

This.. This topic.I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE HOLY SHIT! ;A;This barney game for the Genesis used to scare the SHIT out of me every time it froze. Didn't help it was mostly on the same screen where barney was STARING at you. Holy FUCK.I still get freaked out a little over error messages, not small ones, of course. The ones that take over your whole screen. Like the Jaguar's error message when you have no game in it or that Game Boy camera thing or wtfever it was with those SCARY ASS ERROR PICTURES.I would have a picture of one of those, but i'm too scared to look for them.Even though i've bluescreen alot before, it scares the shit out of me every time, ESPCIALLY when i'm listening to loud music. Or worse, when you're listening to loud music, the screen turns off for a second, and then it bluecreens without the.. Bluescreen.Shit myself there.

Ever put a dirty disc/disc that doesn't belong in a PS2 into a PS2? If you haven't, try it. Now picture being 10-years-old and doing that in a dark room.
Never really been scared of errors, in fact the old Windows error sound, that pling, (On Windows before Vista) was a pleasing sound to me. I liked it.But now you mention it, the BSOD is sort of coldly taunting you over everything you missed and what it found with ease.

My laptop is currently having a stroke, so loads of BSOD's and errors. And when I started it up for the millionth time it made the start up noise and let out a loud burst of static. It made me jump. Last edited 11/09/04(Sun)15:05.
