Has anyone ever heard of Ao Oni? It's to Clock Tower what Yume Nikki is to LSD.

It uses default RPG Maker tiles, has no music, and the plot isn't very clear. You and your friends are in a mansion haunted by the Ao Oni (read: Blue Demon) and need to find him.

At random moments of the game, you are chased by the Demon. Hiding won't save you. If he can see you hide, he will get you. If he doesn't, he'll wait for you to come out.

It's horribly creepy.
http://mygames888.web.f|c|2.com/aooni.html Download it here. If it asks you for a certain dll, you can just download the dll off google.

Thanks, i really didnt see them!

Older versions of this game, since they are not accessible from the author's website:

1.1: http://www1.axfc.net/uploader/Ne/so/63747
Password: 3180
3.0: http://loda.jp/xyuuxyuux/?mode=pass&idd=1
Password: xyuux
5.2: http://jp.brothersoft.com/software-48661-.html (Note: click ダウンロード)

In case anyone wonders about versions 2 and 4, version 2 is basically the same as version 1 (probably with some bug fixes), and version 5 is the same as version 4 (so 5 probably fixed some bugs in version 5). I have been unable to find version 2 anywhere, though, although I have seen someone play it, and it is the same as version 1.

>> No.1807   [Delete]   [Edit]

I was totally gonna ask if there where any older versions.

I love you for giving them :'D

>> No.1809   [Delete]   [Edit]

6.23 is out. I wonder if anything changed?

>> No.1816   [Delete]   [Edit]

If it is only the number after the dot that has changed, then no content has changed - only some bug fixes.

>> No.1821   [Delete]   [Edit]

I don't know about that. 6.22 added Blockman and Godmode modes.

>> No.1864   [Delete]   [Edit]

I can't seem to find the 2nd piece of the memo. In 5.2 of course...I can only find the piece next to the bed in the bedroom, after you slide it over. .n.;

>> No.1865   [Delete]   [Edit]

I've forgotten everything about 5.2, sorry :/ You could try looking up a walkthrough to help. I used ZaTaishou's run on YouTube to get me unstuck a lot.

>> No.1866   [Delete]   [Edit]

That's the one I used...I can't figure it out...;~; It's in Japanese. Thanks though.

>> No.1880   [Delete]   [Edit]

JMU-6.23 code. Adds this guy named Jon/John to the kitchen couch. He turns into an oni when you get close after the library Oni comes after you. That's all I could get .n.;

#'s are 941.
I can do it on 6.22, but apparently it's different. So please, someone solve it for me. I suck at 5.2 :U <3

>> No.1920   [Delete]   [Edit]

Oh I already did :3 I was a little disappointed though, I thought the new oni would take more part in the game :/

It's not 1416?

>> No.1922   [Delete]   [Edit]

I love you.

Thank you <3 :U

>> No.1930   [Delete]   [Edit]

Did you try (9162 + 2625)^(1/4) ?

>> No.1933   [Delete]   [Edit]

Oh I hated that puzzle. I had to watch someone else do it on Youtube.

>> No.1934   [Delete]   [Edit]

>>1930(9162 + 2625)^(1/4)??

Sorry, I should have explained properly to begin with.

Considering 9162 + 2625 doesn't give you a 4 digit number, perhaps here XXXX is
X multiplied by X multiplied by X multiplied by X, in other words: X to the power of 4 (X^4)
This makes the equation

X^4 = 9162 + 2625

To find the value of X, you'll need to take the 4th root of both sides
[ xroot(a^n) is the same as a^(n/x), I feel the later leaves less room for confusion, in type at least. ]

(The 4th root of X to the power of 4 is just X)
This leaves us with

X = (9162 + 2625)^(1/4) [Which you can J-J-JAM into your calculator]

I am, of course, assuming it's honestly just a math question, I know nothing about this game.

If my explaination was obvious and patronising, I apologise.
If it was muddled and confusing, I also apologise.
If, somehow, I managed to tell you something you didn't already know in a way that was understandable, then... YAY MATH!

Damn you smart people.

>> No.1971   [Delete]   [Edit]

Anyone have a link to the latest download for Ao oni?

>> No.1972   [Delete]   [Edit]

It's the same url every time since he just updates that one page when a new version comes out. He ought to make an archive though :/

>> No.1978   [Delete]   [Edit]

Ya know, for a horror game...

There's a lot of porn. .3. I've got craptons.
And I'm surprised he doesn't keep an archive. I've got 1.0, 3.0, 5.2, 6.22 & 6.23 if anyone needs them ;)

>> No.1981   [Delete]   [Edit]

I installed this and the text isn't showing up for some reason. Any ideas?

I have the program that you need to run it, and there's no text other that dialog.

>> No.1987   [Delete]   [Edit]

Someone made a tutorial.
However, it only works for 5.2 forward.
Otherwise, switch your locale to Japan and try that.

>> No.2005   [Delete]   [Edit]

Open Game.ini, and change the "J" at the end of the RGSS into an "E".

>> No.2009   [Delete]   [Edit]

Didn't work for my 3.0 or 1.0

>> No.2012   [Delete]   [Edit]

Get 6.23

>> No.2015   [Delete]   [Edit]

does anyone nkow how to extract the project file from Ao Oni, or ani RMXP game for that matter. I had the idea of applying the mode 7 script and making the whole game 3D

>> No.2019   [Delete]   [Edit]

I don't normally approve of decrypting, but that sounds like a really cool idea.

>> No.2057   [Delete]   [Edit]

I already have 6.23
And I've played it a crapton of times.

Too many.
So I wanted to play 3.0 and 1.0 (text would be nice c:)

>> No.2059   [Delete]   [Edit]

goddammit can someone explain mode 7

>> No.2060   [Delete]   [Edit]

What the hell is mode 7? :I

>> No.2061   [Delete]   [Edit]

Mode 7 is a script developed for rmxp and rmvx that makes everything 3D

seen here:

>> No.2064   [Delete]   [Edit]

See also: lots of Super NES games that use Mode 7.

>> No.2066   [Delete]   [Edit]

because i have no idea how to use mode 7, instead i will be hacking ao oni to make a Yume nikki crossover game. It'll be like heta oni.

>> No.2068   [Delete]   [Edit]

Mode7 is a fancy way to say "scaling", where a background or sprite is stretched or warped to give the illusion of 3D or a trippy effect like the battlebacks in Earthbound. The SNES was advertized with it, but every 16-bit console is capable of it. Hell, 8-bit consoles are capable of it, you saw it all the time on the NES in racing games and games with transitions.
