Hey thar Uboachan,I'm thinking of starting a "video games Yume Nikki players might like" thread. Can be regular video games, free indie games, whatever.Of course LSD: Dream Emulator should be part of the list. Also, here's a game called Die Anstalt, pic related. http://www.parapluesch.de/whiskystore/test.htmIn this game you're a psychiatrist for mentally unbalanced toys / stuffed animals that were mistreated by their previous owner. The point is to cure them of their illness by finding out what really happened in their past that gave them such trauma. It's usually cartoony and light-hearted, but what makes me think Yume Nikki players would like this game is that you can see their dreams and drug trips (lolwat) as a way to find out more about their condition and things have some pretty weird results.I don't even know, it's a strange game that's really fun to play. what about the fatal frame series? i dont know about you guys but running around in a haunted house/village/mansion of sleep (the third game has the same, "dream about crazy stuff happening the wake up" mentality of YN) swarming with ghosts that try to kill you and theres nothing you can protect yourself with but a frikken camera. my friend palyed the second game in first person mode while he was high.... brix were shat.

Mansion of Hidden Souls may deserve a mention here.I haven't played it in probably over a decade, though. I can't remember a whole lot about the story or gameplay, but I can remember that I loved the game even though it really scared me. I was never able to finish it.Apparently it's a Myst-like adventure game, where you play as someone who enters a mysterious mansion to... look for his missing sister or something. I can't really vouch for the quality, but according to some reviews it's reasonably good, if extremely short.

Pathologic.I found this game on the High Octane Nightmare Fuel page on TVTropes, and while I haven't played it yet, I thought it might be of interest to you all. It has certainly caught my attention, despite... some things I've heard. The basic premise is that you take the role of one of three healers, who have traveled to an isolated town for reasons of their own, only to get caught up in the events occurring there. The town is dying from a mysterious disease, and it's up to you to discover the source and a way to stop it. But... I think this review explains it better than I can.http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/r_pathologic_pc

Well, I finished Die Anstalt, I think... I helped all the patients, but is there a proper ending? I tried to open up the book at the front desk, and it came up with a loading screen that didn't stop. The sheep/lamb/wolf/dog is my favourite, I might buy the toy :3

Hey, Kino, I'm having trouble with Die Anstalt. I can't seem to cure the hippo and the turtle but I can do everything else. Halp.

You're going to rescue your vain sisters from hell or something, by defeating them in boss battles. To do that you have to get points. To get points you must use your scarf to kill weird bimbos with boobs the size of beach balls. Even bigger. Just... pic related.

>>112Speaking of Indie Brawl...
And a different version.
Speaking of run and gun, I remember an older game where you play as this kid that goes to rescue his dog in a really unprobable shadow world etc. It...Well, the first parts are nice, but it gets kind of...stupid in the end. After the last big raid in the last room there's basically nothing, no final boss and I think maybe even no ending.I think the game's name had to do something with Nightmare. Memories are scarce though.
>>530All Of Our Friends Are Dead is a wonderful game with some of the best atmosphere and sound design in any game I've ever played. And then the dude made a sequel, called Au Sable. It is about a girl/young woman walking through a forest. And itisTHE FUCKING BEST.(it's a little like AOOFAD, but less abstract, with a slightly more varied color scheme, slightly more comprehensible plot, in general a little bit more like a normal game... but it is just slathered in the messages written on walls and terrifying Lovecraftian bosses, which I always thought were the best bits of AOOFAD)The guy also made an FPS set in the Au Sable world, but it's short and very crude and I do not like it very much (it feels too cramped and its playstyle is too recognizable [the Game Maker FPS tutorial].)

http://www.deathball.net/notpron/Not Pron is an internet-based riddle game with some creepy atmosphere, but I wouldn't suggest it to people with little patience or little technical skills. I haven't played in years, but I still have a .txt with all of the level passwords up to 50, where I stopped. Getting to that point took me several months of laborious searching across the internet.Of course, the entire experience is ruined if you cheat. I know their built-in google client doesn't work anymore, so when you do searches just add a "-notpron" tag at the end to ensure you don't get any spoilers.

If you enjoyed the atmosphere and overall feeling of Yume Nikki I'd recommend Arx Fatalis. It's got quite a... deserted feeling to it and has some pretty damn scary moments. Anybody who's played it will know what I mean when I say "that thing in the dwarven mines."
