The second Alice is kind of a murder mystery, as she left the Asylum and went under the care of a man named Dr. Bumby, since she had no family to go to and the people in her life still weren't sure about her. Early in the game it's shown that she wants to know what happened in the fire, and has lost much of her memory about it. She isn't insane anymore, or not as much. Wonderland is her coping mechanism; in the first game, it forced her to deal with her insecurities and guilt over the deaths of her family. In the second, Wonderland is there to help her remember what she's forgotten.

It's really a fantastic game, very very long as well. Don't be so quick to judge.

>first game was a book

Seriously, the game is good and all, but in the first game she was just reading a book the whole time wasn't she?

No, the first game was not her just reading a book.
The universe Alice is in is similar to ours today. She is Alice Liddell, the girl Lewis Carroll wrote Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass for. We know this because a memory early on in the second game is Alice recounting her boat trip with him. What happened in both games is that she fell asleep reading the book he wrote for her, the fire happened, she became the sole survivor, and was sent to an asylum because of the trauma. In the first game, she recovers well enough to leave the asylum. In the second we learn that having nothing to go home to and still suffering somewhat, she lives with Bumby and, we assume, works for him as an assistant while also being a patient.

This is a Doom wad. It is very scary. Play it in a dark room with headphones on... at your own risk!

I recommend going into display options and setting screen size to 12, which eliminates the HUD for maximum immersion.

This contains everything you need to play. Just run ghoul.bat, set up your controls and stuff, start a new game, and have fun(?)

Hey thar Uboachan,

I'm thinking of starting a "video games Yume Nikki players might like" thread.
Can be regular video games, free indie games, whatever.

Of course LSD: Dream Emulator should be part of the list.

Also, here's a game called Die Anstalt, pic related.

In this game you're a psychiatrist for mentally unbalanced toys / stuffed animals that were mistreated by their previous owner. The point is to cure them of their illness by finding out what really happened in their past that gave them such trauma.

It's usually cartoony and light-hearted, but what makes me think Yume Nikki players would like this game is that you can see their dreams and drug trips (lolwat) as a way to find out more about their condition and things have some pretty weird results.

Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.

A long time ago (more than a year) I remember someone mentioned a game on the Wii that was based on dreams. But I can't remember the name.

At that time it was about to be released in the US. All I remember is the game cover being blue in color with the faces of the characters on it too.

Does anyone know the name of it?

fragile dreams maybe? if it's that one... it doesn't really have anything to do with dreams unfortunately

Looming: http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/541333
It's a flash game about a guy exploring a deserted world and learning about the people that used to live there by finding artifacts and messages they left behind. The game's creator mentioned Yume Nikki as one of his inspirations for the game.

It's by the same company that made Machinarium.

Come on, you all know you've cried at a video game. Which ones?

For me, it was Okami, for the PS2. Then, a couple years later. Layton and the Demonic Box on DS.

Yes, only two video games ever have made me cry. I am a robot.

(Games that made you fill up count too. xD )

(Pic unrelated btw. It's a random photoshoop for a Higurashi-RP group. :U )

That reminds me, it was pretty sad in brawl when Ness gets turned into a statue protecting Lucas. Damn, every part in Brawl with Lucas felt pretty emotionally-charged, not to mention adorable.
(Yeah I know spoilers but it's freaking Smash Brothers)
