>>2741>>2742>And this is my opinion, but never redline without asking for permission first. We have no fucking idea if that style in the first post is the style that he is going for. If it isn't, and it's a work in process, then don't mangle with it by redlining and consequently nearly forcing upon him your style or technique. He's gotta learn, on his own, like all of us, and shoving pre-chewed knowledge on him won't help at all.yes. very yes.

When you ask someone to critique your work, you ask for everything. All the critiques are valid, whether or not you or the artist thinks so. If she decides to take it into account or not is all on her. That being said, stop arguing about this shit or I'll start deleting posts. I don't want to delete this artist's thread.

I absolutely see what you're saying, though it was never my intention to force a style on the artist - I'm just better at explaining things through visual aid rather than words.I get what you mean about asking for permission, though. I didn't imagine anyone would be offended by it if they asked for crit, but I'll remember not to redline in the future unless someone specifically asks for it. I'd never want to hurt someone's feelings.

I figure this would go in /o/, since it's about art books..Guys, I found my old "How to Draw Manga" book by Katy Coope, who is well-known for her laughably stereotypical DESU SUGOIII style and her fucking huge anime eyes. I bought it when I was going through my weeaboo phase. Being the cynical artfag that I am, I decided to go through and see if I could laugh at some mistakes or something because I haven't had a good laugh all day.Well, it had the complete opposite affect. I am now terrified of the book and can feel it sitting here, staring at me. I am considering burning it./o/, do you know of any art books I could check out that AREN'T horrifying?couldn't find a proper image for this so have a confused heroin addict.

I borrowed a how to draw anime book from the library once. It was written by a former Disney animator. DISNEY. IS. NOT. ANIME.
Then how come it's labeled as such in actual Japanese stores?
the only book I would recommend that has the title of "how to draw manga" in it is "HOW TO DRAW MANGA" by the society for the study of manga techniques I don't have any of their anatomy books but they have a wide rage of artists, and are very vanilla about their books often taking more of a realistic approach to things than a "manga" stance.par some slightly off 2/3 face angles (in a how to draw clothing book) it's all good.i have several off their books and actually, they don't specialise in doing the human figure/live animals/mediocre backgrounds/horrible colouring.they teach actual perspective, pen techniques, and how to use screen tone. I've even got the book specialising in cars, boats and planes.my one gripe with the whole series is the fact that there are too many of the books, I feel maybe they could of compacted it a little more to make it cheaper.sure there has to be pdf files of the books somewhere though.the few i got thrown at by my family was "the complete book of drawing MANGA" by Peter Grey who obviously just wanted to cash in on the boom of it, having little to no idea how to draw faces (FUCKING CHINS) though the anatomy was, better than usual for that kind of book. Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.

Definitely would get the japanese made How To Draw Manga books, especialyl the clothing encyclopedias as those are helpful for designing your own costumesAlso Making Comics by scott mccloud is nice because it teaches you the tools rather than telling you basic formulas to imitate like a lt of how to draw manga or comic books. Also Style School isnt strictly How To Draw, but it has some nice medium and paper reviews, and different how tos from different artists.

huurrrHere is Monoko, cosplaying eyeball background thing, though it doesn't exactly look like your request.Sorry for doing this sooo looong
Ha ha, nice. No need to apologize, I know how this stuff is. Thanks for taking it at all. And I mean, wouldn't getting exactly what I expect be boring? It's how the artist violates your expectations that makes it interesting. Those web-like lines coming off everything are creepy.
