No.406   [Delete]   [Edit

Does anyone have MIDIs or sheet music for any of the Yume Nikki music?

>> No.408   [Delete]   [Edit]

I learnt how to play a couple of songs on the keyboard, but I can't write down sheet music and I can't use Guitar Pro very well. Know of any other site where I can record the notes I play, so I can show them to you?

>> No.411   [Delete]   [Edit]

>>408
'Anvil Studio' is a free midi-creating program. You can easily just hit record and play the songs.
Assuming of course, that you can connect the keyboard to your computer.

Otherwise... I dunno.

I guess you could also use a webcam or something to record your hands actually playing it. I could settle for that, and write out the sheet music, if necessary.

I made the Diary Theme (save menu music) as a midi. You like?

I almost thought that you went and posted the one music file in the game that was already a midi.

But I thankfully checked before replying.

It's very nicely played. It makes me wish that the song was a full length piece, rather than a short 16 second loop.
Of course, most slow piano pieces tend to have a very nice sound to them.

As long as I'm posting, here the Diary Theme in guitar tab.
File formats are .GP5, .PDF, .TXT, and a .MID for good measure. So nobody should have any problem opening at least one of them.

>>415

Thank you for your feedback. I thought the my timing was a bit off for a few notes, but if you like it, I guess it doesn't matter.

Also, I can do more easily. Do you have any track in particular you would like?

>> No.417   [Delete]   [Edit]

>>416
(edit)

Oh shit, you were right! A midi with the exact same notes can be found in the game folder! Why oh why did I spend 15 minutes learning it BY EAR?

>> No.418   [Delete]   [Edit]

>>416
It was slightly off near the beginning. Somewhat noticable, but not really enough to detract from the experience.

And, as long as you're taking requests...

Prioritized by order of desire, probably.
MOST WANTED:
BGM_018 (Flute Guy)
BGM_010 (Ending)

WOULD BE KINDA COOL TO HAVE:
BGM_027 (Poniko, off)
BGM_028 (Poniko, on)
BGM_022 (Monoko)

NASU TIER:
Nasu, Opening Theme
Nasu, Playing

MAYBE:
BGM_014 (Aztec Rave Monkey)
BGM_016 (Toriningen Party)
KALIMBA

YOU MUST BE INCREDIBLY BORED:
BGM_013 (UBOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA)

Feel free to pick and choose. It's not like I'm going to show up at your house and force you to do them. Probably.

>> No.419   [Delete]   [Edit]

>>418

I'll do what I can bro.

I'm a busy guy though, so don't expect speedy delivery.

>> No.420   [Delete]   [Edit]

>>419
Awesome. Thanks in advance for whatever ones you decide to do.

>> No.421   [Delete]   [Edit]

>>420

ah, one more thing... do you want me to do separate instrument tracks, or just arrange it all on piano?

Last edited 10/06/10(Thu)07:49.

>> No.422   [Delete]   [Edit]

>>421
Well, separate instrument tracks might be more convenient for me in the long run.
But arranging it all on piano might be easier for you (I wouldn't really know.)

Basically, I don't particularly mind either way. But if you don't care either, then I'll say do separate instrument tracks.

>> No.423   [Delete]   [Edit]

>>422

Alright, I'll see if I can do that. If I can hear the tracks apart I'll write them as such. (no drum tracks though, I lack the proper software)

Also, just started on BGM_018.

Delightful.

I thank you again for your time.

TADA! BGM 18 (Chair Man Flute Theme) I do believe I got this one perfect. It was a bit confusing to me at first, to achieve the right sound that is... but I got it... I think.

Anyway tell me what you think.

Okay here is BGM 10 (End Theme)

This track was a little difficult to hear clearly, but I tried my best to match the notes. There is an ambient sustain in the background, I was unable to work it in. There may be improvements needed to be made on this. I hope you like it...

(It's a good thing these are short loops, doing it by ear is hard ¯~¯)

>>425
I check back just in time to find a fancy little midi!

It came out pretty good. I even played the original and the midi side-by-side, and it sounds spot-on.

Very nice! It does make me wish I could play by ear.

>> No.428   [Delete]   [Edit]

>>426
And another one while I'm typing up a response to the first!

It sounds a little empty without the sustain, but the notes sound about right.

Now, with some luck, there'll be another one waiting right after I hit 'Submit'...

>> No.429   [Delete]   [Edit]

>>428
Oh, well. I tried.

>> No.430   [Delete]   [Edit]

>>427
Thank you! I tried to match the instrument as well. (something I didn't do with the Diary Theme... but since it already was a midi, I guess it's better that way)

>>428
I toyed around with various patches but nothing ever sounded right for the background, these are for learning purposes anyway though, right?

>>429
hehe, taking a break... I will do more later.

It's later now... I did the short loop of BGM 27 (Poni's House Theme - Dark) This one I think properly employs the use of multiple tracks. It skips a little in the middle, but I don't think it'll take away any effect of the song. Also, I noticed volume differences in the notes of the higher track, but the one I wrote out keeps uniform volume, I felt like mentioning that...

Last one for today, I'm off to bed. I'll try and do more tomorrow.

>> No.433   [Delete]   [Edit]

>>431
Aside from the skip, I think this one came out pretty well. And as long as the notes are fine, I should be able to work out the timing fairly easily when I play it.

And you probably won't read this until tomorrow, but whatever. Sleep tight. I look forward to what you've got in store tomorrow.

I probably should pay more attention to timing. ¯3¯

Anyway, I did BGM 28 (Poni's House Theme - Bright) when I got up this morning. It uses two separate instruments from what I can tell, please note that the marimba track echos in the original, I didn't use an echo effect in the midi however. Hope you like.

>I probably should pay more attention to timing. ¯3¯

Well, you'll be happy to know that the timing on this is just fine.

This is proving to be an interesting experience. Every time you post a midi, I go and compare it to the original. And, inevitably, I notice all the little things about the track, since I'm actually listening pretty closely to it.

>> No.436   [Delete]   [Edit]

Hmmm... BGM 22 seems to be nothing but percussion/bass hit... I think I'll skip it.

NASU Playing Theme. Super easy mode... literally only six notes. If there are any errors in this, I'll throw myself off an apartment building balcony.

>> No.439   [Delete]   [Edit]

>>437
Sounds good to me. You've made quite a few NASU fans very happy.

>>438

>If there are any errors in this, I'll throw myself off an apartment building balcony.

Well, it's a good thing you already did the ending theme...

But seriously, it is kind of hard to mess up.

>> No.440   [Delete]   [Edit]

>>439

I noticed that my NASU Playing Theme has a midi silence cutoff, which kind of destroys the loop effect intended in the original.

begins dumping effects in the nexus ¯ ¯

>> No.441   [Delete]   [Edit]

>>440
But you put the silence at the end of it, right? So it's the program's fault. The program should jump off a balcony.

You still have about 50 more songs to do, including all of the ambiance that doesn't seem like it should be doable.

>> No.442   [Delete]   [Edit]

>>441

Ah, good point.

And I'll probably only do the ones you requested + any others I feel like doing.

cracks neck Alright here is BGM 16 (Toriningen Picnic Theme) It was a real test of my skill, I had to write out five separate tracks to nail it. There might be a few errors in this, I got as close as I could.

>> No.445   [Delete]   [Edit]

>>443
>>444
Heh. Asking for the Aztec Rave Monkey was sort of a long shot. Though I am surprised that you actually did the Toriningen picnic.

Admittedly, it does sound a little weird, though I can't place exactly what it is about it. It does sound kinda cool played alongside the original, though.

>> No.446   [Delete]   [Edit]

>>445

Some of the tracks overlap, and some midi players can't handle overlapping channels, so certain notes become (somewhat)muted. That's what I've noticed at least.

Also, best use for the steel drum patch I've ever had! ^3^

Edit: Also that one high moving note should be a bend, but my midi writing program can't program those... ¯_¯'

Well guys, I'm all done with my requests. I'll keep posting any other ones I do. Here is BGM 17 (Barracks Settlement Theme) It uses a lot of echo, but I never put echos in midi files.

>> No.448   [Delete]   [Edit]

>>447
Awesome job. Thanks for all the work you've put into this thread.

For the record, and for anyone just tuning in at home, the following songs have already been done:

>>414
Diary Theme (Done by ear because somebody didn't realize that it was already a midi)

>>426
BGM_010 (End Theme)

>>444

>>433

>>438
NASU Playing Theme

Now, this isn't another list of requests, since I already got the ones I wanted the most. But these are some of the other ones that seem at least vaguely doable. I'm merely pointing them out so that you can peruse and see if you like any of them.

BGM_006 (Inner Mars)
BGM_007 (Shield-Folk World)
BGM_008 (Snow World)
BGM_012 (Opening Screen)

FC BGM_004 (FC World - House)
FC BGM_005 (FC World - House, Boss)

FC BGM_008 (FC World - Ruined Overworld)

>> No.449   [Delete]   [Edit]

You're welcome! (ºヮº) I enjoyed doing most of them too!

>because somebody didn't realize that it was already a midi

Aha! That was a fail on my part, wasn't it? (¯ε¯;)

Anyway, thanks for that list, Now I can know what I'm doing without opening the game.

fffuuuck I've been hunting for the Famicom tunes for a ridiculously long time. No one is interested in them.

Any chance of getting the Pyramid Room from the Mother area and the Misc. Areas from the Underworld? ;;
