How old do people think Madotskui is?

>We only call them Seccom Masada (Piano Man), Monoko(Mono.. No color.. Black and White.. get it?), Uboa (onomatopoeia for screaming I guess), Takkofuusen (octopus balloon), etc, they're all just descriptions the fans have made because.. well.. What else can we call them? Anything.

I've read that those are the names of the characters written in the RPG Maker program. But someone who knows Japanese would have to verify that.

But the whole "we don't know crap about the characters except that Madotsuki doesn't leave her room" is something I am in complete agreement with.

Plus she's always tired. She can fall asleep in seconds.

>> No.201   [Delete]   [Edit]

Teenager at least. The messed up lucid dreams give you the impression of a teenager with an extremely messed up childhood.
Not to mention the fact that she lives alone in that flat. You don't get 11 year old recluses.
Young, certainly. But definitely not a kid.

A lot of the fan art portrays Madotsuki as very young... but thats because cute and moe are fashionable. No one wants an ugly, mentally messed up 20 yr old Madotsuki, however convincing and realistic that may be. Loli Madotsuki, purely because it's the most popular/aesthetically pleasing look.

But putting the fanart aside, the sprites do portray Madotsuki as cute and young. But not as young as a child, especially considering the setting of the game and the very little information you get given about the main character.

Anyway, my guess is 17-19. Old enough for childhood trauma to surface in dreams and be a psychologically troubled recluse but young enough to be cute.

She lives on her own. She has to be at least 16. I'm guessing 18-20.

And all pixels usally look the same. Pixels ussaully don't have chests.

>>203
We don't know for sure that she lives on her own, do we? She spends most of her time sleeping, and the time spent dreaming doesn't always correspond with your perception of the time you've spent dreaming. Who knows how much time she actually spends in that room? Maybe she's just not supposed to leave her bedroom at night because her parents are strict.

>> No.208   [Delete]   [Edit]

My guess is pre-teen 10-12 years old.
I mean, when she is sitting on a chair, cough, or seat her feet can't reach the ground, how old can she possibly be?

And the whole diary concept, not many of my friends keeps one (age 16-22) and keeping a diary seems most popular in the pre-teen years.

And finally mental disorders, or just plain insanity often unfolds during pre-teen or early teenage years.
I suffer from depression and anxiety myself, and have since I was around 13, although my mom (who suffers depression too) began to pick up depression characteristics and traits from me when I was 9 years old.

oh.. And how many teenagers do you see wearing fushia shirts in the street?

>> No.209   [Delete]   [Edit]

I'd say anywhere from 12-14.
That's when a lot of kids seem to start getting depressed from what I've noticed in my country. But who knows? Elementary school kids are known to commit suicide from bullying in Japan so she may be younger.

>So Madotsuki is probably pretty young. This makes any and all porn with her in it creepy
>loli
>undesirable porn

I-I don't understand.

>> No.231   [Delete]   [Edit]

It's very likely that the author didn't define her age at all. She behaves like a child (a diary, also her size related to the chair, also the idea of exploring dreams in sort of innocent way.

She sort of thinks like a child, dreams like a child, has problems like a child - the guy with piano, kids who don't want to play with her, scary monsters chasing her in dreams, fantastic scenery's, childish infatuation related dream elements

Children more often than adults remember their dreams, I had a lot of pretty weird dreams as a child (I think they were more creepy then those I have now), dreams about fantastic worlds, weird underground labyrinths, my city but changed to empty and weird, abstract looking creatures, dark knights, weird jungles and all sort of stuff

Details like age aren't needed to make an interesting story, sometimes you can even drop the gender... and if the story is good it may happen that some people will read through the whole story and not notice the lack of gender or age of the character at all (sometimes it's better like that, it, in fact, can make the character easier to relate to). A blank character can work as well (check main character of chrono trigger or golden sun, they don't say even one line of dialog through the whole game, while the other characters talk quite a lot, and you may play the whole game and not notice it)
I had some pretty weird sexual fantasies as a 14 year old, and girls mature earlier.

A child can kill and can commit suicide, in fact it's plausible because the child may have lack of understanding of the idea of death, or lack of fear (which is created by the society, not instincts), never seen parents having to stop children from doing dangerous things like walking too close to the edge of a cliff, putting a hand in fire, puling a dog's tail? ya, fear of death is not really something which you are born with, on the contrary

As for living alone, Madotsuki doesn't leave her room at all, I don't think that would work

Personally I think I see Madotsuki as something between 8-13 years old

>> No.232   [Delete]   [Edit]

In my opinion, Madotsuki isn't a child. She lives alone in her own apartment, and to explain her small stature compared to the things in her apartment such as the bed and the chair, she /is/ a Japanese female... They aren't known for being extrordinarily tall. i've been to japan and i can verify this. as for masada, i think it's safe to say that he's not exactly human... and most depictions of aliens that i have seen show/describe them as having more elongated proportions. he could simply be a humanoid alien in that respect~ and as for the height similarities between all of the girls, maybe kikiyama didn't want to pixel their avatars any smaller for fear that he'd lose detail. monoko's true form is a lot of detail and i could imagine it would be pretty cluttered if sized down any smaller

>> No.236   [Delete]   [Edit]

>>232
Recall that these are dreams we're talking about. It's not safe at all to say Masada's an alien, even if that is a perfectly acceptable theory.

hmmmm true.

Adding onto this, I don't think that she lives alone. Mainly because she shakes her head every time you try and make her exit in the waking world.
Because of this, I believe that she still lives with her family of some sorts. She could be anywhere from 10-15.

>> No.262   [Delete]   [Edit]

She's probably around 17

>> No.562   [Delete]   [Edit]

Guys, shes chibi-styled. She lives alone, and doesn't have to go to school. So shes probably 16 or 17.

>> No.563   [Delete]   [Edit]

>>562
she also have locked herself in her room, refusing to go to school, so she could be younger.

i personally think her age is pretty much dependent on interpretation, since we don't know her circumstances, family life etc. her age is different to different people, and this is so a wider range of people can identify with her.

She'd be about 17 - 21

I don't think girls that are to young would be bothered by such adult mental issues.

If she was younger she would go outside and and call her mom or friends for some mental help.

>> No.569   [Delete]   [Edit]

my theory is some Fallout 3 thing happened and shes taking shelter in a one of the few safe buildings in the city. i would think she was 9 to 13 years old.

>> No.742   [Delete]   [Edit]

I don't think she's living with a family, because balconies in Japanese style apartments are usually connected to the main living area, not just one person's room. It's there that laundry is hung out to dry.

Frankly, even though she's pixelated and chibi, I feel she's probably over 18 like most hikkis are. Many people speculate that this game deals with gender issues. For women, these issues don't begin and end in puberty; some of the symbolism used in the game can be connected with females of all ages (fear of pregnancy, fear of men, fear of rape, body image issues --which is what fat madotsuki could represent, and so on).

I personally think she's 16.
That number just comes to me when I think of Mado.

>> No.899   [Delete]   [Edit]

I give her between 16 - 20
I can see where you guys are coming from with that Whole kid thing, but the fact that she has the ability to go out to the balcony, -Especially with no other way to the balcony than the way she came- should prove that she lives alone, since, you know, Multi bedroom apartments don't tend to link one room to the balcony, rather they connect the Living room.
As mentioned before, Japanese Women are noticably short, which explains her height difference with Masada and the chair height. Many adults are also capable of owning diaries, contrary to apparent popular belief, so that doesn't rule out being aged. I really don't think that she was an abused little child, rather she is just expiriancing her mind. When you dream, you use a different form of logic, in which case everything makes basic sense to you. So walking into the head of a big red demon and watching a phallus-like worm rub a pole could just be little things she heard once or twice in her entire life. Now when a conventional person wakes up, they usually react to this kind of dream like, "That was way passed fucked up!", But in the case of a lucid dreamer, which MAdotsuki appears to be, she would be used to this dream logic and accept it. This also handily explains the suicide at the end, in which most lucid dreamers attempt to prove they are in a dream by doing something most people can't do. She proved that she wasn't dreaming to herself, albeit a bit late once she hit the floor.
So yeah, she's definatly late teens-Early twenties. I'd put her into her thirties, but anime rules apply to her apparently; If they're not a secondary character and they don't have children, they're not allowed to age passed 26.

>> No.900   [Delete]   [Edit]

I always assumed she was 12-15. I dunno. :P

>> No.915   [Delete]   [Edit]

Clearly she's a little girl who ran away from home, and is squatting in an abandoned apartment that somehow still gets power. She's too scared to walk out into the hall, because someone might see her and report her to police.

Her dreams represent how her young mind perceives the world; full of strange people who won't talk to her, and various bizarre experiences. She jumps at the end because she has become so scared of the vast, unpredictable world, that she feels the only way out of this apartment is to jump.

...I'll work on this theory some more later.

she is 13, lives with her parents and she is grounded
the bitch who chases her and put her in a closed area that u have to wake up to get out its her mother

I figured she was probably 18 or 19 (By proxy that puts Monoe at 17-19 and Monoko as the younger sister, 11-13. Masada is probably trapped in time at anywhere between age 25 to 32). Though, really Yume Nikki seems at times to be engineered to be a personal experience so she can be any age the player wants her to be. She's left ambiguous so that the player can relate better.

but right when I started to play the game, and moved mado around, when I made her walk downwards I saw a strange movement in her chest and it started to disturb me... (one of the reasons I prefered to use the bicycle, speed wasn't my top reason) Taking that into consideration and that girls don't develop their bodies like that until like age 15... u can safely say Mado is a... developed teenager.

I think she's a 30something midget. (There's a Japanese term for adult women who look childlike, can't remember it right now)

She's regressing to her youth (with her actions, manner of dress, etc.), trying to re-live a more innocent time in her life. But she can't block out her traumatic memories completely, and when they invade her dreams her brain can't take it and shits itself.

15 is REALLY late for girls!

>> No.2836   [Delete]   [Edit]

I'm 17 and I never developed much ._. my chest was bigger when I was 10 because I was a fatty back then. There was never really a point where I grew boobs, they just sorta changed shape as I lost weight and got older. Still a little less than A-cup
Anyway, the point is, all girls develop differently. There were girls walking around with B-cups in 6th grade, but there are some who didn't get any bewbs until highschool.

All that said, I imagine Mado being somewhere around 10-14. No older/younger.

>> No.2847   [Delete]   [Edit]

are we seriously discussing a Madotsuki's breast size to age? :I
okay for anyone that doesn't know, a girls breast size will constantly change throughout her life, and some girls don't develop much of a chest, shockingly.
Mado is also wearing a fuck off sweater that makes her look big in my eyes.
personally mado is who you want her to be, her sprite is styled that way so she doesn't really have an age, in my own opinion i don't really see her with an age.

>> No.2905   [Delete]   [Edit]

Oh wait, I just remembered, Madotsuki is god.
She's older than the universe.
