Personally, I can't think of Mado having a voice.It just doesn't fit...
But that's just me :/
I could see her having a voice like Tenshi from Angel Beats.Just... soft and girly, really.

I hit a blank as well. Just can't come up with a voice.
I like to think that she communicates through her writing. Like someone who's taken a vow of silence, or just had their tonsels taken out.
I imagine either a high timid voice or a sarcastic voice like Kim Pines in the Scott Pilgrim movie or Mandy from the Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy, but without the toughness and force of her voice.
I think she'd be the one character without a voice. The people from her dreams would speak to her and even though her mouth would move in reply, no sound would come out. The people she spoke to would understand her though, perfectly. It'd only be the viewer who'd be left to piece together what she was saying--judging through her actions.
>>1404Personally I think that speech doesn't fit Madotsuki's dreamworld at all and will inevitably alter its unique atmosphere, but... your idea sounds really really awesome.
"What would Madotsuki sound like if she had a voice." "She wouldn't." "Yeah, but what if she DID!" "WELL SHE WOULDN'T!"
>>1408 Lol, bulls-eye.
I think her voice would be sorta like Alice's from American McGee's Alice.. just a little bit higher than hers though.yeah I suck lol

the voiceover of yuki nagoto, since she's so monotone, if at all.she does speak "dame...muri"thats it owo
>>1422This. I could hear a voice like Nagato for her.
>>1407 It'd be cumbersome to work with, but the other option would probably be much more antiquated: something resembling a silent film. Either that, or you could have a short film about her with an orchestrated score to go with it. Not only with obvious things like strings and horns, but with a variety of unorthodox instruments ranging from turntables to pyrophones.

>>1437This sounds so awesome.
Megumi-fucking-Hayashibara, specifically the voice she uses for Rei. If Mado talked at all.
>>1439 I'm glad you think so. Personally I'd like to start it out with five (or so) painful minutes of silence. It'd be like in the game--how the world outside of the dream is cruelly devoid of music and all that breaks the silence are mundane noises like footsteps and the scooting of a chair: all magnified to maddening volumes.
I'd imagine Madotsuki would be perfectly capable of talking, she just probably isn't very likely to. If she were to say something, it would probably be along the lines of "Yes," or "Okay."Or "Hai", even.As to how she would sound like while saying those words...? Quiet, probably difficult to understand unless you've known her or are used to quiet/shy people tugging on your clothing from behind and whispering short responses to themselves.Me: "Madotsuki, did you have a good day at school today?"Madotsuki: "H-hai..."orMe: "Madotsuki, I have a confession... I am deeply, madly, infatuated and in love with you!"Madotsuki: "Naifu."Me: "Heee?"Madotsuki: "—Sasu.—"

>>1452Even then, for "yes" and "no" questions she could just nod or shake her head. If something required a more detailed answer, like "What happened here?" I could sooner see Madotsuki pulling out her dream diary and drawing it than saying what happened in words. But maybe that's just me? :/

Personally, I'm working on a live-action Yume Nikki short film/tribute, and Madotsuki will only talk a few times, few and far between, and usually only one word.
>>1600TELL ME MORE
>>1600really anon?you must tell us more. i demand it
I've always thought her to probably have a quiet, whispering, tired voice. Maybe a little uncaring even.
I guess I always thought of her having a Yuki Nagato-esque voice, but with emotion. Only slightly monotone and usually spoken in a forlorn and soft manner.
obviously she sounds like me.
I guess someone else has already said this, but Madotsuki actually says "Muri" (Impossible) and/or "Dame" (No way) in a cute, somewhat digital voice whenever you try doing something that is just plain stupid.Like when you try getting in a bed or a toilet with your bicycle, I mean, who DOES that!? O.o

Without a voice.I always imagined her to be mute.

I always imagined her as having my voice, at least if I was a girl.Guess that's the point of a silent protagonist.

But Madotsuki has a voice! There are really this many people that have never heard her speak before?-Equip an effect that doesn't have arms (ex. severed head, stoplight).-press 9, try to pinch yourself awake.-shit brix as her kewt voice says the Japanese equivalents of "can't" and "impossible".editI should have read more carefully. >>2016 beat me to it. Still, yeah. She talks. In a very small and shy voice. Last edited 11/03/05(Sat)07:29.

>>2154Mado strikes me as someone who doesn't talk, but only when they have to.
Madotsuki's voice... My immediate thought was Cibo from BLAME ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2l9m_wV_dSk )...It leans closer now toward Yuki Nagato, same as Pop-kun.

>>2281Didn't we just establish that Madotsuki has a voice?>>2154"Hey guys, if Yuki Nagato had a hair color, what colour would it be?""I think it would be green!""Well I don't think she has hair""I think it would be brown because my hair is brown.""Here's a picture of her. >>2154I just thought this was the game trying to tell you " NOPE ". Like in Pokemon, when you try to run against a wall.I tried some other effects.Equip Oni, if you're pressing 1 for the effect, it(she) says (50 %) muri or dame.I never used Oni in the game.. is it only for special occasions?
Oni makes thunder when there's rain.
>>2346>>2154Although I'm stuck between these two interpretations, I just want to verify for myself -- you are talking about the voice that says 'dame' and 'muri' when slowed down, right? Because the sound file itself, in-game is sped up. Slow it down, you get a normal person's voice. Just... fyi if you didn't know. 9~9

anyone know who Brina Palencia is?i'd like to believe her voice acting would suit madotsuki
>>2375You're perplexed that a childlike voice sounds deeper when you lower the pitch? How would you know what the original pitch of the sound clip was anyway?Besides, what's she's saying, "damé" and "muri", means "I can't do this/that" and "this/that is impossible" respectively, if it wasn't Mado talking, she wouldn't say the first one. Have any of you played Silent Hill 4: The Room?Well, if you have, then I imagine Madotsuki would sound like Eileen Galvin.Plus, they both come to a really bad end.

harsh. the voice of your average 14-year-old girl speaking in unbelievably harsh tones, using sweepingly hateful language and phrasing of fear and paranoia. explicit condemnation of any who dare pass through that door, dare break her solitude. am i the only one here who thinks that mado isn't a sweet person at all?

>>2466She's obviously got some issues, judging by the contents of her dream, but to be honest I think of her as more sinned against than sinning. And I imagine that, should an adaptation of YN ever be made (which will never happen), she will be voiced by Kana Hanazawa - using her soft, shy voice.

>>2479i don't see her sinning though - i see her as someone who's been sinned against so much that she kind of gets this detachment from any standards of emotion and acceptable behavior.not all people with personality disorders issues etc. are that way solely due to brain imbalance. i've dealt with people who've become reasonless, borderline psychotic monsters due to years of rough stuff.

I've always thought of Mado as a shy and sweet person up to this point, but this post reminded me that she dreams about slaughtering all of these friendly people and creatures and never giving it a second thought. Now that I think about it, Madotsuki seems like the type who is only silent because she hates talking and loathes people in general.
Most likely like Enma Ai from Hell Girl.
>>1421are you me?
>>2442Except "dame" says nothing about "I". It's a generic term meaning "no, can't, not allowed, impossible" etc. In this context, it could just as easily (and more sensibly) be the game saying "you (the player) can't do that."Anyway, I think an adaptation without any voices at all would re-create the game most faithfully, but if Madotsuki has to talk, I imagine her sounding like Setsumi from Narcissu: quiet, breathy, slightly irritable, projecting a sense of resigned hopelessness.
