so recently I saw Inception, and seeing as the main idea of it is "dreams", I was thinking of Yume Nikki the entire time. the actions and behavoir of Cobb's wife, Mal, couldn't help but remind me of Madotsuki. Mal's confused as to which is the real world--the one she's living in or the dream world, just as many theorize Madotsuki to be. in order to be in the dream forever, Mal kills herself, and by jumping/falling off a building no less.also, Cobb's elevator in his mind reminded me of a hub, and I thought it would be a pretty neat one, the different levels representing different "worlds", or different memories, which could even be the case for Madotsuki.so um yeah, just thought to post that here, something to think about, feel free to suggest any other similarities by all means! enjoy my scrappy editing too. :D

i just KNEW someone on uboachan would say this because when i saw mal's story, i almost shouted 'madotsuki' haha.the projections attacking seem similar to toriningenand of course, the arhitect makes 'maps' which we can also find ingame, but that's just a strech tehnically the conclusion is that kikiyama might have actually studied lucid dream theory very well to make the game, such as nolan who did so for his movie Last edited 10/08/03(Tue)10:07.

God this is like the best fucking movie ever, no joke.
Thank God I'm not the only one making this comparison. I thought that I was going crazy or just plain obsessed for a minute.
I'm actually surprised that I didn't think about Yume Nikki at all during the film.Though considering the whole "dream sharing" machine, I guess it makes sense because Yume Nikki doesn't mention anything like that. Then again, Yume Nikki doesn't mention anything at all, does it.
>>1321 i didn't think about it as well, i was thinking at freud and jung most of the time, but when i saw the chick wishing to commit suicide after so much lucid dreaming, it was impossible not tobasically mal is in fact a shadow person, this is why cobb called her a "shade"she's the 'hat man' of his dreams Last edited 10/08/05(Thu)13:47.
