So I want to join in the fun of making Yume Nikki based games, but I only have one problem.....

I CAN'T SAVE THE SPRITES IN THE RIGHT FORMAT!

>3> I saved it in 256 color bitmap and I have color loss. I want to save it in png but I don't know what type would work for RPG Maker 2003.

Notes: I use paint for graphics and gimp as well.

Help would be appreciated! And I'm sorry if I don't understand the format of this forum... o3o this is my first time posting.

I had a similar problem. Here's what you do.

Have your sprites saved as a PNG. Open it in Gimp. You can either leave a background color and select it out later in RPG maker, or just have it transparent. Hard edge eraser and select by color work well at removing the background, so long as select by color is at its most specific.

Anyway. Actually saving. Click IMAGE > MODE > INDEXED. Have it set to Generate Optimum Palette, have the number 256 (though it defaults to 255 for me sometimes and I think that might be fine too). Then save and bam.

Any edits you want to make, just do it in paint or with the image set back to RGB, then save it again as indexed once you're done.

That should help.
