I've been working on a fan game of sorts. Trust me it's NOTHING compared to the original or Yume 2kki but atleast it's something.
I'm calling it "Fever", basically you play as a little girl with a fever who has... Fever dreams. xD; Her name is Lilith ^^

Please tell me what you think!

>> No.513   [Delete]   [Edit]

I like it so far. The concept seems full of potential and it's good that you're not trying to copy the YN sprite style.

One thing that doesn't sit well with me is the name "Lilith". It seems like an unlikely name to give someone, even if it does sort of fit this situation (Lilith being the bearer of illness and all). This is really just my opinion, though.

I'm still going to keep an eye on this game. I hope we get a least a demo.

Thankyou!! ^^ I'm going to shoot for a demo by the middle of this month.

There should be some kind of feature where, as your fever gets worse, the dreams get trippier. That'd be neat.

That is a good idea! ^^ I don't know how in heck I could do it with RPG maker though O__o

Wish I could help you but, I'm as clueless as you are.

Well...Actually, the only advice I can offer you depends on which version of RPG Maker you use.

If you're going to use RPG Maker XP or RPG Maker VX, you can use Ruby scripts to change things. There might be some kind of script out there that could help you, or you could try learning Ruby yourself...

Unfortunately I only have rpgmkr 2003 :( I would like to get VX, though. FILE SUPPORT, YEY!

You could always pirate it...If that doesn't bother you.

Ah, if I'm not mistaking you for someone else, I think I've stumbled across your DA page. I'm glad to see that you've decided to work on Yume Nikki-like game again.

Well what you could do is set up a timer that as it ticks down sets a variable which different events are dependent on to be different. and once it hits zero or after a certain point it resets. Or have it countdown as you're awake and add to the variable and then at a slower rate when you're asleep subtract from it thus being awake for longer makes you sicker and sleeping and exploring makes you more healthy.

Wow, I didn't expect to run into you here Angelic Carrot!
I do like the concept that you have come up with.
And to add too Praesul's idea, maybe you can have it where certain elements in the dream that will specifically increase or lower your fever. Say perhaps the presence of a certain enemy will slightly increase your fever, and then if you go to a certain area , you can 'cool off'. Maybe even include a fever gauge or something.

I though I'd update a little, since I've been busting my ass on this >3<

Okay, the demo should be done by the end of this month. WOO! xD I'm trying to pack as much stuff as I can in so it'll be entertaining enough till I finish it.

So far there are three transformations(I call em that instead of effects so it would be a little more original):
Flamethrower

Dog

Gym uniform/dodgeball (Needs some more work, may not be in the demo D: )

I will probably put more non-interactive effects in (ones that will just change your appearance) but for now this is it.

Again, about the fever progression effect in the game- I really don't think I can do that. If you have used RPG maker 2003 before it's not as open-ended as most game making programs. It is easy to use but for a noob like myself I have NO idea how to do that stuff at all.
There will be areas that will make you wake up because of the fever, but as for the advancement of it, I really don't know.

I DO know how to tint the screen, though- What I could do is every time you get a certain item the screen turns more red. But if I made it more trippy I'd have re-make ALL of the tilesets... And I really don't want to do that.

Alright!

I am looking forward to it!

Yeah, I have RPG Maker 2003, XP and VX.
If you were using XP or VX you might be able to do the whole 'trippy' thing. But with 2003 I highly doubt its possible.

However, tinting the screen red would work I think.

You could have the vending machines like they had originally in Yume Nikki that dispensed hearts, but maybe every so often it would dispense an item that you could use to go through the areas that cause your fever to go up so high, that normally you would be forced to wake up. Kind of like how you had to use either the Umbrella or the Yuki-onna to get the poop hair, but this is a 1/64 chance event instead.

Yeah, if it's not too much trouble (I wouldn't know...) It would probably be a better idea to use RPG Maker XP. It's definitely better than 2k3. VX is even better on the scripting end, but there's more limitations with the graphics...

It is indeed possible to do this in RPGM2K3 it's not really that difficult either although the "Trippy" effect and stuff may require more sprite work on the creators part to make it look cool, the event to determine this kind of thing is actually quite easy to script.
>>677
I could help you with that, I have never fully made and released a game but I've been fucking around with RPGmaker 2k3 since it's release and know how to do everything that has been described on the fever progression, if you want. The timer suggestion is easiest as it would only require one event and a minimum of 3 or 4 branches of what needs to occur. If there is a way I could contact you or construct this event for your use lemme know.

That would be great! Actually I need a lot of help scripting lol, I'm absolutely horrible at it D:

My email is fawnchan@live.com. ^^ Thankyou for the help!!

>> No.729   [Delete]   [Edit]

You hear Lilith a lot less often. Why the demonic name?

Sent you a demonstration of the fever mechanic I made up real quick, it's really not that interesting for anyone else unless they're familiar with RPGmaker2k3 scripting. However I will post a RS link just in case someone can fix the few bugs I have goin on.
