Yes, I've been considering making this for... today, and was wondering what most of you think about it.

Basically, you play as the nameless person in the middle right. The pictured world is the hub world. Your goal is to escape it.

The world has six doors, one of which starts out open. Entering a door sends you to a different world, which has an exit door hidden somewhere inside of it, as well as two effects. Entering the exit door returns you to the hub and opens another door in the hub.

Presumably, you will be able to escape the world once you have opened the last door in the hub.

...Wow that was long-winded.

(In case you couldn't tell from the screenshot, it will be a platforming game.)

I would recommend keeping the graphics in mind a bit more.

I don't know how variable the areas will be in appearance, but the character doesn't seem to match the area they are in at the moment. If this is just this area, and it is meant to look like this, it's fine and you shouldn't worry about it, but else-wise, consider trying to get the graphics to match up.

Also, watch out how you shade things.
Shading is very important in conveying both physical depth and emotional stuff.

The way you are shading at the moment tends to make things look beveled, which makes it look like there is a big, flat surface with a flattened face around the rest.

I would suggest using more shades for shadows, as well as keeping light direction in mind might create a more compelling effect.

The character was deliberately made so he would look out of place in every area in the game, for a reason that I don't have screens of yet.

I intended for the Center's shading to be a bit awkward in most areas, but that's useful advice; I'll keep that in mind for when I make the other areas.

I finished my platforming engine, and I've been getting some decent progress made on the first world.

It's really hard to tell what's going on with the main character's sprite. At the size of the screenshots you posted, the colors kind of blend together. Unless the actual game is planned to be played in a larger resolution, I would make the different colors contrast with each other a little more so that he looks like less of a vague white/pink/gray human shape with eyes :p

I'm also not sure about the giant winged eye graphic in the background of the hub. The rest of it is fine, but the eye honestly just looks very cheap. If you could fix it up a little, and make it look a little less like a quick lopsided doodle it would be awesome. I also love the title screen :D

This sounds like a great game so far :3 I love what you've told us of your ideas for this and I can't wait to see more of it.

Good progress being made on the Metal World.

I messed with the game's premise again; it isn't a Yume Nikki fangame anymore (no effects) and therefore strictly doesn't belong here, but it already has a thread (and I've seen slightly less variant concepts sneak onto /fg/) so I'll keep plugging it unless a mod tells me to stop.

The main character also has a fancy new outfit.
