I finished my platforming engine, and I've been getting some decent progress made on the first world.

It's really hard to tell what's going on with the main character's sprite. At the size of the screenshots you posted, the colors kind of blend together. Unless the actual game is planned to be played in a larger resolution, I would make the different colors contrast with each other a little more so that he looks like less of a vague white/pink/gray human shape with eyes :p

I'm also not sure about the giant winged eye graphic in the background of the hub. The rest of it is fine, but the eye honestly just looks very cheap. If you could fix it up a little, and make it look a little less like a quick lopsided doodle it would be awesome. I also love the title screen :D

This sounds like a great game so far :3 I love what you've told us of your ideas for this and I can't wait to see more of it.

Good progress being made on the Metal World.

I messed with the game's premise again; it isn't a Yume Nikki fangame anymore (no effects) and therefore strictly doesn't belong here, but it already has a thread (and I've seen slightly less variant concepts sneak onto /fg/) so I'll keep plugging it unless a mod tells me to stop.

The main character also has a fancy new outfit.

Hey, /fg/,
Being the derp that I am, I've decided to come up with some stuff. I can't compose music, design sprites or program worth shit, so instead I'll draw and write. Taking it upon myself to create a little fan...whatever you want to call it, a spin-off of YN. I plan on there being 10 worlds and 25 effects.

The main character, Chiritsuki (chiri meaning dust), uses an axe as her weapon. Just her initial design.

I hope you enjoyed your trip. I'm going on an 8 day trip tomorrow (if my worsening medical condition will let me >_<), to the relief of the Yume2kki thread and others.

Nah, nah, they're just the main worlds. They're the worlds that could be accessed with the nexus, any other minor worlds/areas/etc would have be to found. Have fun traveling. : D

It's not much traveling as it's a camp. Long story short, we build gigantic stuff out wood logs binded to each other and show it off to people. That's what I do at least. Then there's all sorts of stuff with the younger kids in the scouts coming etc, but I'm not in charge of any so I just cool off for a few days. (very long-story-short-ish)

Something I just thought of: if making the game doesn't work out, maybe we could all collaborate on a creepy picture book. Programming a game is going to be really hard as I'm assuming none of us have much previous programming experience, so maybe this could be something more people could contribute to easily.

Also the picture book thing sounds good even though I cant draw. What kind of picture book and what style will the pictures be? Is it gonna be organized one picture per page or is it gonna be manga style? The only thing I'm good at is planning and organizing so this is probably the only thing I can contribute...

Nah. Any book needs a plot, and I don't know any successful examples of collective plotmaking in the whole history.

My YN inspired game is called Somnia.
You play as a small little gray guy (featured to the left)

Now, what makes this game different enough to be interesting? They are:

  1. Your character isn't dreaming, he's part of a dream world. Zi lives inside of a huge, nebulous cloud, made up of all kinds of dreams!
  2. There will be more RPG elements in this game than the standard YN fangame. There will be talking characters, and a few fights, even. Still, however, the primary focus of the game is exploration and seeing things and interacting with them, as well as collecting fragments, which will be the effects of this game!
  3. Aside from the content I get from some very wonderful people at this site (I thank you guys! Seriously, I love you guys for helping me!), I'll be doing as much of the games content from scratch as humanly possible. The sprites and tilesets that are being implemented in this game are all self-made (like I said, aside from what people on this site make to help me), so it won't look like a big recolor.

Since somebody bumped, I guess I should write a bit of an update.

At the moment, I am taking a small break.
for

  1. I haven't been doing art things lately, I have been doin' a bit more drawing
  2. I really need to figure out the direction I want to go with this game. I started out with solid ideas, but as time went on, and from hanging out on /fg/, it has made me think hard about what I really should be doing with this game, and now I am in the process of ..well, picking a direction. Even though I have been doing this mostly for my own personal enjoyment, I do want this to be something memorable for others, and not just some off-shoot fangame that gets played for a couple of hours and never though of again. I know I have said that a lot already :S

Also, I need to think about how to do graphical things. As I have been working on this game I have been getting better with doing tilesets, but I am still not good enough with them to pull off my goals. When I do tilesets, they seem like nintendo stuff. This is fine for some places, but I have places that just won't work while looking like they are from an 8-bit cartridge.

Seeing as something is happening to the current Yume 2kki thread, and version 091h just came out, I decided to start this thread over again.
I encourage whover wants to post whatever about "new" things he found, to look at the 2nd yume 2kki thread, at >>7858 . Yes I expect you to go through quite a few hundred pictures, so we won't have same exact few hundred pictures AGAIN in this thread (veterans are exempted from this rule).
That said, the game can be found here: http://loda.jp/yume2kki_4/ . As for how to run it, we have other threads for that.
Yes, this picture has been with the thread since it began. The new character, Urotsuki, is on the left, obviously.

I've heard the Yume Nikki remixes (all of them, I can't get enough, in fact). Does anyone know about remixes for the .flow music, or for Yume 2kki?
I wish there were longer versions of all those songs, I love stuff like that...

Alright, I've had the idea for this for a while, but since I'm finally getting a brand-new computer on Friday, I thought I'd tell you guys about it.

It's a hack of Yume Nikki (think along the lines of Pokemon ShinyGold and you'll get the idea) that has Poniko as the player character rather than Mado. I've already planned some of the visual changes (Mado's dream!bedroom is Poniko's room in the Snow World.) but right now, it's more of a vague idea than a solid plan.
Here are the effects I've planned so far.
??? means I haven't got a name |3c

??? Effect: Turns Poniko into humangirl!Uboa and works in the same way the stoplight does.
Phone Effect: Poniko has a cellphone. Using it warps her back to the Nexus.
??? Effect: Poniko's head turns into a giant eye. Pressing 1 makes it blink.
