THEORY INTERJECTION TIME
Due to the two being together, we can assume they are friends of some sort.
I would go as far as guessing that the red one is female and the blue one is male, but that might not hold any relevance in this theory.
The blue one looks normal enough, but the red one ... yeah.
I hear when you use the cat effect on them, they get kind of mean looking. The cat effect's power is of attraction. They might be analogies for people mado knew, one that she thought was an alright guy, but who was always around someone she personally disliked.
The traincar is pretty small. The fact that you have to sit on it for a while could represent times when Mado had to be in their vicinity for a while. As long as she didn't try to flirt with one, this wouldn't be an all too bad experience. Otherwise, though, it might create an akward air.
Considering where the train goes afterwards, the the place with faceless people, may represent mado's wishes that the event never happened, and the witch effect could also symbolize how she felt about the situation in retrospect (possibly demonizing herself to a point, or thinking that, if she was a witch, she could be as ugly a person as the red thing, which seemed to be what the blue thing likes)
