Just wondering.People say sleeping on your back gives you sleep paralysis, and I usually sleep on my back and get normal sleep. What other positions does /yume/ fall asleep in?

Rarely do I ever fall asleep on my back... I did and I lucid dreamed out of nowhere. It was so epic. I usually sleep on my side, or sometimes on my stomache-ish....EDIT: Oh and I usually move my legs while trying to fall asleep, it rocks the bed... And it helps me sleep. Something my mother used to do... Last edited 10/06/24(Thu)23:36.

I always sleep on my right side(facing my wall) because it's more comfortable. But when I do, I get sleep paralysis and I get lucid dreams of odd/scary things. D:
I have crazy dreams and I always sleep facing the window, or wherever the most light comes from. Needless to say I always sleep on my side. Last edited 10/08/29(Sun)19:14.

I've slept on my back for my entire life, and this has never happened to me.
I usually end up on my back, a little bit on my right. I've been told that it looks like I'm posing in my sleep. One hand behind my head, the other on my belly, one leg bend up, and the other leg bend laying on the side.
I know for a fact that sleeping on my back gives me nightmares or serious dreams.Sleeping on my stomach does the opposite.Sleeping on my side ends in suffocation or some sort of chasing in a dream.
I think the sleeping-on-your-back trick only works if you don't normally sleep that way. I sleep on my side naturally, but I can make myself sleep on my back if I'm really tired or taking a nap, and I've always had weird dreams and hypnagogia when that happens.
Just falling asleep on your back doesn't get you lucid dreams (unless you are extremely lucky and get them anyway), I tried it out quite a few times. You have to stay completely still for about 30 minutes or so to get it. And that's really hard, because everything will start to itch, sometimes your skin feels like it's burning, sometimes you hear weird noises and sometimes you get the feeling your eyes are falling down. That may sound a little silly, but it's really annoying and always wakes me up when it happens.
I sleep with my stomach facing the bed.I place my head facing either my closer wall, or farther-away wall.Either way, I have no dreams.I haven't had a dream for 5 months.

>>1186You had. You're just not remembering them.
If you've slept for more than an hour, you've dreamt, 100% guaranteed. You go into REM every single night after your deepest sleep stage. When you go into REM, you dream, and REM is the longest stage of sleep, longer than all the others combined depending on how long you're asleep. Unfortunately, our brains are designed to automatically start forgetting our precious dreams as soon as we wake up. If you don't train yourself to remember, your dream memories will be rare.
I sleep on my back, I would sleep on my stomach or side, but my arms almost always lose circulation if I try to.>>1186That picture is so cute. <3

>>278your doing it wrong...?I can't sleep on my back without having some sort of hallucination or bad trip. You have to let your body relax and your mind still thinking...err, I will try again tonight or next afternoon and explain how it works since I havent slept on my back for a while, but there is a distinct feeling when you can tell you about to fall asleep/paralyze...Also I usually have the light on, or some music playing, but something there that prevents you from falling asleep but also doesnt make it difficult to... Whatever sooths you but doesn't completely lull you to sleep.Ive actually fell asleep listening to the UBOA TERRORIZE track in the Yume Nikki Remix Album, its actually a bit soothing... point is, you got to set conditions right for you and I should stop posting so late in the night.
