Here's something I thought about.
Let's say the first few times she dreams in the game, she dreams only that she watches TV (the eye, one time the Kalimba) then, she finally notices she can't play her game because it is gone. So she looks outside to her balcony for it, nowhere to be found. Walks back in, and ponders where it would've gone. Then she figured, someone stole it! Even more so, the thief is outside that damn door...
So, she bravely stands up, wanting to find the thief or anyone who's seen the thief, she walks up to the door, opens it, and out she goes. Instead of a hallway, there's a room full of doors. She had stepped into another world.
Where would the thief go, she wondered. She stood in the center of the room, wondering if she should just start at the first door and go clockwise, or just pick a random one.
She ended up with a random door. Opening it, she stepped in and it indeed was a whole new world. So big that the thief could be anywhere, or anyone. But she started her search.
Gradually, as she kept exploring through her dreams, she came to forget all about the missing game console...
Either way, most of the time she has a swell time wandering around, meeting people like no one ever would. And those who were kind to her gave her gifts (the effects), either to remember them forever, or just because.
Then there are times when the creatures there don't seem to like her at all (Hostile Toriningen, Poniko who ignores her), and places where she was warned not to go (Hell maze, Poniko's House, etc), for various reasons. But her curiosity and at first wanting to find the console thief, makes her disobey the warnings.
So when she finds the knife, it came no surprise that she used it against the more sinister creatures, and over time, learns that the only way she'll ever get that console again is to collect all the effects and dump them into the Nexus.
Finally, once she does as she's told, she is then told to wake up. Pinch, and sure enough, her console was back. At first she thought she really did get it back, until she went out to the balcony and saw the stairs.
There's no way that was there before, and there's no way anyone could've gotten in this time, and there's NO WAY that thing could've fit through either the bedroom or the Balcony doors.
She suddenly realizes she hasn't woken up. The game console was real, sure, but why would she need to dump her effects? Unless...
They used her. They used her as a pawn to get the effects so whoever used her didn't have to. And now THEY had them, and she was still dreaming.
Still dreaming. So that meant that if she awoke for real... They're sinister plans would be put to rest. Forever.
She stepped onto the stairs and looked over the balcony rails. Then a noise of rapid footsteps was heard, and three tall women with long noses appeared. Their sickly-sweet voices made Madotsuki sick to her stomach.
"Don't jump, Madotsuki!"
"You'll die!"
"We're sorry! Please come down from there!"
But Madotsuki turned and smiled deviously at them. "If I had my knife right now, I'd kill you all and knock your bodies over the edge. But then you'd trap me. Again. You're not fooling anyone. The stairs are here for a reason."
And she was right about that. Obviously the stairs were there because her dream friends knew how Madotsuki could save herself, and to get even with the ones who used her.
"Damn it, Madotsuki! Get down this instant!"
But Madotsuki only replied with "Burn in Hell, Bitches," before she tipped over backwards and fell right off. The Toriningen followed to try to catch her, but they were too late. They could only watch in horror as she plummeted and landed on the pavement.
Then came a burning sensation. Their sick screams filled the air as they died from the everlasting burn, they're very selves evaporating.
There was pool of blood around Madotsuki's body, and the jellyfish people walked up to her body.
"Well done, Madotsuki."
"Thank you, Madotsuki." they ringed repeatedly, even as her body faded away.
