OKAY YORSHIE FINALLY POSTS HER GOD-DAMN THEORY OF THE CHARACTERS (i might do the effects soon)
there are probably 9567 typos in this but i really don't care anymore
feel free to point out any plotholes or things that don't make sense btw
okay i won't bother explaining mado because all of the other characters will explain why she is how she is.
toriningen (bird people) - they're the bullies that mado had to face at school (which is the fanon theory anyway). the fact that they don't die when you stab them is because mado has never been able to get rid of them ever, and they go crazy when you stab them because they bullied her more when she tried to fight back. the picnic is also the fanon thing too - the grass purposely in the way was to show that mado couldn't join in things that the popular kids did.
poniko - a person who tried to be mado's friend, but she valued her social image to others as well, so when the populars (torinigens) saw that she was being nice to mado, she would suddenly be mean to her to make herself look tough. uboa is poniko's 'dark side', and the reason why he teleports her to that place is because, when poni is being mean to mado, it reminds her that she is isolated from the social norm for most things.
monoko - a girl who has a slight deformity in her lip. because she was teased, she was friends with mado. she got ran over by a car driven by shitai while the two were walking under a bridge. her crazy arms are just her bones jutting out of her skin and the hand coming out of her head is her brains. the music in the background of that event is the music that was playing on shitai's radio.
shitai - see above - he was the one driving the car. he gives you the stoplight because he ran (drove?) a red light.
monoe - monoko's older sister. because mado was foreign, she always envied monoe's asian looks because they let her 'fit in' with everyone else. the thing mado would always notice about monoe was her eyes - they were the stereotypical asian eyes. the reason why she teleports to random places is because she wasn't really a friend of mado's - she occasionally saw her around school and stuff.
the reason why both monoko and monoe are monochrome are because they were memories from long ago.
flute player - mado's therapist. he tried to cure mado's social withdrawal by letting her express herself through music. he recommended the flute, but mado only learned a few basic notes before she realised that the flute just wasn't for her. the therapist said to try and find another music teacher, as the flute was the only one he could play.
masada - mado decided to learn the piano, and her dad hired masada to be her piano teacher. because mado's family didn't have a piano for themselves, mado had to go round masada's house to learn the piano. masada was obsessed with sci-fi movies, which is why he lives in a spaceship and you go to mars. the two are both socially withdrawn and they soon become good friends (this is why masada's spaceship has a table with two chairs and not just one) mado's dad is suffering from a drug problem so he's an irresponsible parent, and when he's 'gone off on one', mado decided to stay at masada's house the night of that piano lesson. masada left a telephone message for mado's dad to say that she was staying over and lied that it was to learn some extra piano stuff but it was just because she didn't wanna go back home that day. mado's dad realises she's gone some early hours in the morning and phones the police. by that time, mado is fast asleep. the police pull up outside masada's house - the sirens wake mado up. masada panics and tells mado not to go outside. because mado can't see the police, she imagines there's a massive group of police cars all piled up outside (the 'train wreck' which isn't a train wreck at all). the police arrest masada and find him guilty of kidnapping. mado visits him in jail sometimes, and he's an empty shell of what he used to be (mars-san).
mado's dad is her only parent - her mum died when she was little (this is why most of the NPCs are female - to make a 'motherly figure' for the one she lost). her dad's a druggie 'cause of the loss of his wife and failure that is his daughter. this also explains the floating heads. they're cut off at the neck and appear to be in pain because mado wants them so suffer for neglecting her (even though it wasn't even her mum's fault!)
mafurako - she was the person at school who set all the trends. one of them was to wear a purple hat and scarf. mado was left out of this once again, but she managed to find a hat and scarf on the side of the road one day. she wears this to school the next day, hoping to be accepted by mafurako. she says that she'll only accept mado if she's someone else because she thinks mado weird (this is why you can only follow her if you're a snowman - otherwise you get teleported somewhere else).
that girl inside the igloo (can't remember her name) - she was bullied by the populars as well (there's a tori outside the igloo she's in iirc). mado tried to reach out for her, but she wanted nothing to do with her, which is why she acts to the cat effect differently. she used to curl up into the fetal position every time she was bullied, but mado's young innocent mind always thought she was sleeping.
pic kinda unrelated i guess
