Maybe "instructions" is the single most important effect.Think about itThe game starts off in Mado's room. She refuses to go out. So we can assume she's a recluse/depressed/etc.What if when you first start the game, she sees the instructions; the only effect you can use while awake. What if that causes her to realize she is nothing more than a video game character doomed to repeat her reality over and over. Once her in game quest is over, she has nothing left, so she choses death. Also, she enjoys 8bit games. And she eventually dreams up a whole 8bit world complete with enemies and a boss. Maybe that's her trying to accept her fate.It could be that "instructions" is the soul cause of her mental breakdown and eventual death.

This is the gayest shit I have ever heard.
>>1386Clearly you have not been to /seccom/.
I do believe the instructions is important, but not in the way you're talking about.I take it as a hint that Kikiyama wants you to see the ending, as opposed to just walking around randomly. If we take another it step up, it could be that she wrote it herself and was planning to commit suicide since the very beginning (Assuming she knew what collecting the effects would do). You have to wonder if she was planning this all along. I mean, NOBODY just goes 'I'm going to kill myself today, lol" just like that.

Now that I look at it, these instructions don't make a whole lot of sense. Shouldn't the arrow point to "my room" from "dream" rather than "get in bed"?idkanyway I don't think we need to get /t/ involved with the instructions, but I do agree with >>1391...

>>1393That's actually my point. A game where 'there is no purpose' has instructions on how to get to the ending... Of said game with no purpose/story. Last edited 10/07/31(Sat)02:03.

>>1414Not entirely... I mean, one could probably figure out a few aspects of the game without instructions, but how would they know that pressing 9 wakes up Mado? Or that you have to collect all of the effects and then drop them (by pressing 5) in the Nexus to see the ending? I can't definitively say why the instructions were included as an effect instead of a readme, but it's already been said: "The instructions are important because they're instructions" and they're only important to the player.

But the instructiosn also say "press enter key" and "from the menu". Are we to believe that Mado has an enter key on her person that she can press, or that there's a menu that she can somehow open and access (to equip effects or even quit the game)? Last edited 10/08/03(Tue)10:30.

I don't understand what you guys are arguing about. The Instructions are supposed to be from Madotsuki to... herself? On how to go about her life? Which she "realizes" is only a game? And the instructions are what lead her to off herself at the end?
