So. Do you like music? I'm sure you like music. Everyone likes music. If you don't, you're probably not human. :V Either way, because I like spending my time (and bandwidth) on needless things, I set up two audio streaming servers on my machine. One is mine, the other server called ubuu for whoever on uboachan who wants to stream their music. Here are the stations: (I will add DJs and their music preferences later so people know what to expect when they look at the station's page.) Click here to listen. DJs:Praesul:Japanese, Indie, chiptunes, experimental, post rock Chronodio:Metal and 'other crap'. Post here if you'd like me to add you to this list. Click here to listen. DJ: Writer, as this is my 24/7 channel :V Electronic, punk/pop rock, indie, ambient and chiptunes. (I may add another public server if this idea of mine takes off) Those urls will lead you to the station's page, giving you a little bit of info on who's streaming, what song is playing/etc. That way you'll know if you'd like to listen. If you click 'listen' in there, you'll be prompted to save a listen.pls. Open that with any media player that can handle streaming audio (Winamp, VLC, RealPlayer, iTunes, to name a few) and you'll be listening! So, you may be thinking: "You said that ubuu is a public stream. Then, how do I stream, Mr. Writer?" Well, you can stream using virtually any broadcasting software. I use winamp and the Shoutcast Source DSP plugin. But there's a bunch of other ways, like NiceCast (for you mac users out there), SAM broadcasting, and VirtualDJ for instance. The way you stream is different for each, so I'm only going to be able to explain how to connect via Winamp and Shoutcast DSP as that's the one I'm familiar with. Here's how: Have winamp, obviously. Download this plugin (The Shoutcast DSP) and install it. Or you can use this. It's called Edcast, it's a bit better but requires a little more brains to use but essentially works the same. You can also use it for foobar, which is cool. Once it's installed, open up Winamp and press Ctrl + P. Go down the list and click "Plugins/DSP". Once you're in there, click the Shoutcast DSP. A window should pop up with four tabs; Main, Output, Encoder and Input. Click Output first. There are fields where you'll need to fill info. The needed info is as follows: Address: radio.uboachan.net Port: 8000 Password: aaaaaaaaaa (ten 'a's) Encoder: 1 Now click "Encoder" and set "Encoder Type" to MP3 Encoder. Then beneath it, change the "Encoder Settings" to 80-96 KB/s, 44.100mHZ, Stereo. Don't go higher than this, for the sake of stream speed quality and my bandwidth. :V Now go back to "Output" and click "Yellowpages". Make sure to add your name to the stream's title. Add your genres and anything else you want. Then press: "Connect". If you connect successfully, huzzah! You'll be streaming whatever you listen to to whomever may be listening soon. If not, then you need to go back through the steps and fix what you messed up. Also, as a rule of thumb, when streaming, join the IRC channel. And don't hog the stream, I'll kick for that too if you don't get off after a reasonable period of time. Also, despite this being in 'off-topic', it's only because there is no music board. So try and keep the discussion in this thread related to the topic, being music. That's all! Enjoy listening/sharing. C: Last edited by moderator 10/10/11(Mon)14:50.
