Nice Kanako. <3Well, critiques? Meh, if I could, but I can't say anything, since I don't know so much about anatomy...Just keep posting. :3

your pictures look like you're only drawing 2d geometric shapes and trying to put them together to make a kind of animu-inspired styleeven animu is based around depicting 3d shapes in a different styleall you have to do is study realistic human figures and incorporate 3d shapes into your drawings and you'll get better. don't just put down colors and lines on a totally flat 2d plane, everything will turn out disproportionate and weird-looking because that's not how a figure would be put together irli hope this makes sense, it's hard to explainon the plus side i've noticed if you stick to a color scheme you seem to have a good sense of how colors work together, definitely work to improve that, it's an important part of having artwork that's a step above the rest and i think you have that potential. you just need to keep working on your figure drawing
>>2012Thanks for the tip. I've been trying to pull that off for awhile, but it always turns out wrong.

I CAN'T DRAW HANDS.Or anything else for that matter. :I
>>2013>but it always turns out wrongThat's not an excuse. It means you need to keep doing it until you get it.A huge mistake is when people say "well, I can't draw x, so I'll just avoid trying/doing it in the first place, because it doesn't look right."You need to stop drawing anime. Or, at least, stay away from it until you have a better understanding of the human form and skeletal/muscle structures. Seriously, take it from someone who was in your situation, but drawing anime first only makes things more difficult. Anime is an abstraction, and as with any abstraction, you need to know the rules before you can break them. How are you "trying?" Are you really trying? Or are you just looking up animu tutorials on DA by mediocre animu artists? To really learn, you need to draw the basics first. Look up pictures of people with minimal/no clothing. Draw them, it will help you understand how the human body actually works. Look up muscle and bone charts. Draw them, it will help you understand the structure underneath the skin. No, it's not easy. Yes, it will take work. But if you really want to get better, you'll move away from the animu and learn the nitty gritty details first. Trust me, it will help you a ton in the long run.Which is nothing to say of lighting and color theory, which you really don't have a good grasp of yet. Try drawing still lives and observing colors and shadows. Yes, they're as boring as fuck to do, but they serve their purpose.I have references I can post. Let me know if you want me to post them.

I'm also trying to aim away from the animu art style, but you know...
>>2072It depends. I have a lot of stuff. I have a bunch of nude photographs (male and female), as well as a handful of tutorials (how to draw hands, eyes, abdominal muscles, shading, etc). I mean, I might just make a separate thread, or add to the existing one. This is a good picture to work from. Her hair is so short that you can really see the shape of her head and get a good idea of facial proportions. Try drawing her (I would skip the hair designs, at least at first).Either way, this stuff can be found on google and art websites, you just need to look.I know it's hard to start doing something completely different. It'll take a while, but it's worth it. It doesn't mean you have to stop drawing anime forever and ever, just to give it a break until you understand the basics more.
