Hey Guys! I'm making that mod for HL2 that is inspired by Yume Nikki and LSD. You can check out the development blog here.( http://stadr.blogspot.com/ )I'm kind of being secretive about the contents of this mod, because I believe a game like Yume Nikki is more enjoyed when you have no idea what to expect, here though, I will still hold back a great deal, but I see no harm in showing development shots.(The picture is the City or the "hub" in development, that green thing isn't an actual model, it's just a place holder to show where the player starts in this area, same thing with the textures, they are place holders.) This is what the lighting looks like as of this moment, I'm going to try to make it maybe a bit brighter (kind of like an overcast day.)
I'm the guy that was building the Poniko map over in /uboa/. Looks pretty nice so far.How will you approach this, given that it's in First-person view?
>>1315>How will you approach this, given that it's in First-person view?Well, First of all, this isn't truly a Yume Nikki fan sequel or remake, it is only inspired by Yume Nikki and LSD. I'm keeping in mind that it is first person, and because of that I would like to put more emphasis on the ambiance. I'm paying more attention to getting the player lost in the world figuratively and not literally. (that's not to say that there aren't maybe a few voids :D) As for the area that you wake up in, I have substituted it for a single shot of a ceiling fan slowly spinning through sun beams to make it look as if you are laying in bed face up. This could also be the title screen, but I might change it to something animated. Last edited 09/10/21(Wed)15:26.

I'm going to assume you're working under the Orange Box engine. Do you plan on using the particle system to any extent? Also, what sort of assets do you plan on adding? (music, models etc.) What sort of experience do you have with Source?Sorry if I seem like I'm pestering, but I'm working at something similar, and I have no idea where to start.

I'm not sure.>what sort of assets do you plan on adding?Everything I've said on the blog, Custom Textures, Models, Music, sounds, pretty much a total conversion mod.>What sort of experience do you have with Source?Well I've been mapping since the first SDK, I've done a few custom models, and imported them into Garry's Mod, so I understand how to get my models and textures in there. I'm starting with the central area, the place you travel to different worlds from, because it is probably the most common map and a good base to build off of. (like a tree)

AWESOME music man. I'm looking forward to this. :)
>>1313Certain worlds should have sort of retardedly bright pink lighting.
More music...also this may be harder than I originally thought, I've been trying to edit the code so it fits what I need...http://i.fhqhosting.com/Ice.mp3http://i.fhqhosting.com/HuntingFears%28winning%29.mp3

A random inhabitant that is supposed to show up in the city some times, he kind of has a weird face, I'll just leave it up to your imagination. One more song:http://i.fhqhosting.com/LostCloudMaze.mp3

This looks really cool. Looking foward to it.
Glad to see you're still working on this. If you have any interest in particle systems or materials, shoot an email my way.
You know that UDK is free now, right? It takes more graphically, but hell, it's the system they made Arkham Asylum on.
